When my aunt died a few years ago, she had a pretty standard funeral, but as the curtain closed on her coffin Outkast`s “Hey Ya” began…1, 2, 3, 4!
It was such an unexpected, upbeat choice that we all left the service smiling. She knew she was dying, so picked the tune deliberately to make us laugh!

So, what would your funeral songs be? Apt, funny, sad?

Here`s mine

Dust In The Wind by Kansas. Apt.

The Spirit Carries On by Dream Theater. Uplifting.

Highway To Hell by AC/DC. Leave them laughing.

Obviously you just pick what you like, no need to stick to my categories!

I think the Countdown theme tune as you’re on the conveyor belt into the crematorium furnace is a popular one.

My wife isn’t keen on my idea of a voice recording of me shouting “Help Help I’m alive, they’ve shut me in this box! Help!” as I go along the crematorium conveyor belt :joy:

I’ve long said I want Highway To Hell. The people that know me well wouldn’t be able to keep straight faces.

Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I’ve always had an affinity with that song and discovered years later it was my brother’s favourite song too.

Just to make people laugh, maybe Burn Baby Burn too.

I want people to do the traditionally improper thing of laughing at a funeral. I want it to be practically impossible for people not to.

Exactly @MsSubExperimenter, I think it would be lovely to have people smile or even laugh at my funeral! I don’t want my family or friends to be miserable.
I don’t think any of them would be too surprised at my music choices but still I would love to be able to see their faces when Iron Maiden starts blasting out!

I have it written into my Will that I have expressly requested no funeral. Done the paperwork to donate my corpse to the trainee medics at Cambs Uni (if I’m in a state to be of any use to them). Failing that, I’ve asked husband to throw me over the garden fence or pop me in the compost bin. He can play whatever music he wants, won’t be any of my concern (for obvious reasons), but I do get why such a thing is important to those who do want a funeral. Appropriate sending off and so on.

Or have a pre recorded video of after the coffin passes through the curtain, i climb out and do a runner. Maybe coming back with a case of beer and a magazine for the journey, climbing back in before a heartfelt farewell
