Guys in running tights

What do people think about guys running in just tights? I am quite big and not sure if marking the bulge would be embarrassing

Questions need to be to everyone, rather than one group.

I don’t really have an opinion either way tbf, I would suggest you wear them running and see whether you’re embarrassed or not.

If you’re running when its dark, please wear reflective clothes so you’re visible!

I’ve edited your post @Liberalhusband to make it open to all, as @JoCat said

As long as you’re wearing the leggings for their intended purpose and not to get attention, do whatever you feel like :+1:t2:

If you feel uncomfortable, then pop something over the top.

It doesn’t bother me either way what people wear

I wouldn’t object to seeing a guy in running leggings

I wear leggings regularly in the winter, but i aear a pair of shirt shorts to hide my package. No one really wants to see guys junk flapping about, wear a pair of shorts over them, simples

I wear them when running in the colder weather. No shorts over the top. I am about average size but exercise and cold weather shrinks the hell out of things so bulges are not a huge (pun intended) concern.

I suspect that in most cases it really won’t be noticed by people. I am assuming you mean running tights/leggings rather than hosiery which would be a different issue.

Running tights needed in this weather. Shorts over the top usually and perhaps a jock strap to keep everything in place. Bulges under control…

Another man saying to wear shorts over the top.

I find it’s just not a good sight for people to witness, regardless of the size of the package.

Yep, especially first thing in the morning!

Absolutely fine. A long singlet/t-shirt is another way to cover the bulge.

I usually wear a pair of shorts over my (male) tights. Mostly becausemost of my tights have been “long John” cut with a fly and I don’t feel like they’re intended to be worn as outerwear. But I have had a couple pair that were heavier tights without a fly and cut with a little more room/coverage. I ran in those without shorts. Way I see it, if it’s cold enough to wear the tights then shrinkage will prevent any real embarrassment. I’m also then pretty likely to be wearing hip-length warm layers up top to provide some other coverage, too.

I say go for it. I imagine you’d probably also be wearing supportive briefs or boxer briefs for a run, especially if you’re that big you’d want to keep everything from flopping around.

And at the end of the day, nobody’s actually paying attention to you out on your run.

I always wear running leggings. I usually buy them from the woman’s section in the supermarket. I find them really comfy to run in or just to wear as everyday clothes. I do usually wear a longer top or jumper. As long as the bulge isn’t in an aroused state, then it’s just part of being a man and with dark leggings can’t be seen unless someone stares and you can’t control what people stare at :man_shrugging:

Happy to wear running tights / leggings without out shorts, whether actually running, at the gym or just doing errands. As long as you’re not actually erect, I don’t see that it’s a problem. Yes, there might be a big of a bulge in the crotch region but so be it: women tend to have a bit of a bulge in the chest region when wearing fitted clothes. Nothing to be ashamed of! I always wear a thong underneath but that’s my goto undies all the time.

I wear ‘mens’ running tights without shorts but will wear longer tops and a big hoodie for modesty if out and about. I love the comfort, feel and practicality and am disappointed that there is still a bit of a stigma with men wearing leggings. They were after all, originally ‘men’s’ attire which has been popularized by women, it’s therefore a shame they are not seen as unisex as they should be.

For loungewear I wear ‘women’s’ black everyday leggings as they are super comfortable and warm. This evolved from wearing thermal leggings but I prefer the tightness and the fly bit looked odd. I am not quite confident enough to answer the door dressed this way. Which shows I do feel judged/stigma, even though we all have legs and ought to be able to wear what we want.

I don’t think clothes should be gendered hence the ‘’ but I do feel society’s pressures.

Welcome to the Forum @ArchieW

Men’s running tights are essential in the cold weather for muscle support and warmth. Whether we wear them with shorts over the top or not we should embrace them. If I am lucky enough to get an admiring glance that is a bonus!!

Exactly. Yesterday I wore my favourite green leggings when out doing errands with a hoodie, trainers and white socks pulled up. Comfortable and kept me warm in the cold!

That’s a great and comfortable look. As per my previous post I wish that was a bit more mainstream for men. Hopefully times will change. :crossed_fingers:

Thanks. Also like wearing leggings with boots in the winter. I think the trick is to do it with confidence so that people just accept it as your style. I usually wear leggings when flying and doesn’t bother me at all that I’m the only man on the plane in such attire.

Totally, do it with confidence, feel comfortable and like what you are wearing. As a cyclist the shorts and cycle tights are practical and comfortable and I embrace the Lycra!
