Hip / groin pain during sex

(Sorry if a similar topic has been discussed before)

Wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced hip / groin muscle pain when having sex?

Despite being quite sporty and a normal human amount of flexible, I find I get super sore during PIV sex, especially in a cowgirl or missionary position / any time my legs are abducted and have to hold that position for a decent period of time.

It’s a bit hard to describe where the pain is, but it feels something like a strong muscle ache or cramp in the hip / pelvic region, and it’s definitely muscular (please see the vitruvian man below as I struggle to define what hurts). After sex (especially if I’m on top) it can be hard to adduct my legs back in, and we sometimes joke I need a hoist to lift me off :sweat_smile:

Has anyone experienced this before and have you found anything or any exercises that can help? Once a normal position is regained post-sex the ache goes away almost instantly and there is never any ongoing soreness.

Edit: Probably should add we’re both in our early 20s… (just for all those getting old comments :wink: ).

It could be just having your legs stretched at that angle, I know my hips don’t like it at the climbing wall when stretched out lol
Exercising different muscles that don’t like it

I do lots of exercise but randomly playing 5 aside football which quick short side steps or doing one of those crazy bucking bronchos kills off my inner thighs.

Maybe try working in a sexy warm up yoga stretching before having sex and see if it helps.

I get that same pain, its like I need to crank my legs back together if they’re open too long. For me its because I have tight hips.

My sexual partner can lie back and can fully open his legs so that each of his knees are touching the bed. I can’t do that. Its just as well he’s slim so he fits easily.

I know there are yoga positions that can help to open the hips (I just don’t do them), and make sure to stretch your hip flexors, mine are always needing stretched, unfortunately a desk job doesn’t help.

Im getting it too, if im thrusting for too long with my legs stretched out, i know im gonna feel it for a few days… #OldAndFallingApart

The only way as I see it, is to have sex in those position more often to strengthen / stretch those muscles … :wink:

I get this but then I’m getting old and unfit lol. Don’t know much about you but could be anything from a groin strain to a hernia. Worth getting checked out.
