She hasn’t used it on my yet, but I’ve been playing with the two dildos myself and although I knew I would take the smaller one easy, I was quite intimidated by the larger one. I think the recommended increment is 0.5 inches in girth so you’ve skipped a few steps there! As long as you’re gentle and listen to your body then you should be fine to go at your own pace. When it comes to your wife using the toys on you, you might be surprised that it feels very different than when you’re using them yourself. I would tell your wife that you’ve been practicing but still start with the smaller dildo and work up from there.
I have no experience of pegging, I’m just going by my experience of solo anal play compared to anal sex or my husband using a dildo on me. Hopefully someone with pegging experience can correct me if I’m wrong!
Thanks for the advice. I’m not really expecting her to be gentle or all that careful, so I had to get myself completely used to the larger toy before letting her loose with either of them.
That is quite a jump between the two, 1.75” instead of 0.5”! Although, I really did like the feeling of being able to take something which felt ‘too big’. The feeling of it finally popping through was everything I imagined it would be.
Regarding the part about informing your OH you’ve already outgrown them……
Don’t sweat it…just explain that you wanted a test run before go time to hopefully eliminate some of the awkwardness.
I got a larger dildo after our first couple times. Didn’t hide it but didn’t make a big deal either. During our next session I handed her the strap with the new dildo.
She commented “ahhh. Someone got something bigger” with a snicker and a smile. She seemed excited by it.
As far as growth….for me it was quick to a point and then got real slow progress to next size. I think the initial quick progression was more learning to relax……once I got to that point then the actual ‘stretching’ part came and that’s when it slowed down.
I worked up a bit quicker than 0.5 too! That feeling is the best! If you haven’t already, you might like to try glass or metal plugs or the large beads that you can get that look more like balls on a string - those are satisfying!

Regarding the slowing down, I suppose it’s like golf, you get your score down quickly to start with then it is down to lots of repetitive grind to slowly get it down more. Something I’m looking forward to in the bedroom and out on the course!
Glass or metal look like they would be great feeling. Does the coldness make a big difference? Not that they would stay cold very long once they are in you.
I’ve tried beads before as a novice, loved them and would really like to try larger ones.
Glass is my favourite but metal is similar. You can definitely feel the cold, I really like it but you can warm them up too if you prefer. Apart from the cold, the other differences are weight, how solid they are and the really smooth finish. They feel a lot bigger than they really are!
As for the large beads - I had some soft ones, they gave a really satisfying pop! LH don’t sell them anymore but they were similar in size to the smaller cannon ball ones LH now sell but I think those are firmer than mine.
When you can comfortably take one size then it’s OK to move up to the next but remember 1" of extra diameter is over 3" of extra circumference. If you don’t want the expense of buying multiple dildos or plugs each with slightly different sizes then think about the Doc Johnson Titan Intimidator. It starts at a very reasonable 3" circumference but tapers out to 10" at the base. Very useful if all you want to do is stretch to accommodate bigger dildos or plugs.
I bought a training set of butt plugs at first and worked my way up to the biggest one. After I’d become used to that, I bought a Red Rider pegging kit and my partner used that on me. It’s about 7 inches long and the thickness is graduated, I found that was comfortable for me from the outset.
I have bought a LH Basics 8 inch dildo since then, which is thicker, I can take that, but still find myself going back to the Red Rider dildo after having it for years.
