Hygiene issue with Durex Play

Today I noticed that the Durex Play lube (plastic bottles with pump) have no cover over the hole where the lube comes out. A plastic seal for hygeine reasons is COVERING around the entire bottle but does NOT COVER the end of the pump. Everyone from shop staff to warehouse people to customers could pick up the bottle and contaminate it.

Maybe I'm being too 'sensitive' but frankly, this is a lube to be used in the most intimate way possible and yet the hole where the lube comes out is not sealed.

Your opinions appreciated.

(ISSUE NOT RELATED TO LOVEHONEY, BUT DUREX)

wash it before use .

I thought the plastic seal was to stop it from dispensing in the post.
Just checked mine they aren't covered either but I spitz my lube bottles with toy cleaner before and after play in case of any nasties.
Don't use the first few pumps?

I personally hate the durex range, I find it's a brand name with poor quality of "add on items"

Buying from lovehoney cuts out some of those people and like ruby said wash it :/
How many people actually pick up and man handle lube in the shops lol its probably safer than your fruit and veg. Lol

wont affect the lube inside if outer casing is handled and you disinfect before use if you really feel the need to

Plus its all produced bottled and stored in clean environments would be more hassle then its worth for durex if someone tampered with the lube.

Personally I would just avoid it. It's sticky, tastes rubbish and is crap as a lube. The new love honey flavoured lubes are so much better

Durex lubes are not my pick anyways, but this hygiene issue wouldn't be an issue for me. If you start thinking about that then you could go crazy thinking about all things, like someone said your food, lingerie/clothes, cutlery and so on..anything you buy. I can't be bothered to get paranoid so I don't worry about stuff like this :)

i don't see an issue i've watched enough "How It's Made" to know Durex lubes will be made in a factory where everything is clean with no human contact between bottling and sealing as everything is automated by computers & robots and no way any staff could contaminate the lube or pump with out breaking the seals on the bottles. if the unlikely possibility of contamination bothers you clean your lube bottle with sanitizer or toy cleaner

while the flavoured lubes don't taste that nice i did find the Aloe lube is good

I have to agree with MissChar id be a paranoid mess, if i started thinking that deep into everything i bought or touched i guess sometimes its just better not to think to much about things i have never really noticed about the lube i just buy it open it and use it :) im sure its pretty safe im ok and i have used it for a long time now although im now moving onto lovehoneys lubes :)

That was what I wanted to say....

I don't like Durex, so I don't use it. But if you think like that about a bottle, what about the money you use when you buy the bottle? How many people sneezed into their hands and touched that money before you used it? You hand it to the man/woman who dives into her cesspit of germs, the till, and hands you more money, that's also been covered in germs. You leave the shop, and open the door handle, that tons of other people have touched, you then touch your face, wipe your nose, or even wipe yourself when you've been to the toilet and put them germs down there. If a bottle worried you, I'd look at the bigger picture, and possibly buy some antibacterial hand gel :)

Apart from all that.... the amount you get from the money compared to Liquid Silk or LH Brand..... there's no comparison.....

I think he meant the actual lube inside could of had stuff put in or added ect down the pump hole but the whole bottle has a seal right? So no one can have acess anyways cus most shops have a tester bottle open for customers and shopfloor staff to mess around and spread germs can see ur point tho but like everyone said if u think like that theres defo worse things out there and would dig yourself into a paronoid mess i work in fashion retail and cant believe how many people try return worn underware makes me shudder that they expect you to touch it or think how many people try clothes and shoes on before we buy stuff...

I am not a fan of Durex, but my main issue with them is that they refuse to print any ingredients lists anywhere, so you never know what is actually in the lube..Gah! I remember a blogger friend emailed them directly to ask and after a looong wait and a few nudges later, they finally told him it was a secret/trademark thing and could not divulge ingredients. No other lubey companies do this? Thats the main reason I don't use their lubes anymore....I would like to know what I am putting inside my body.

Add to that their flavoured lubes dry so sticky and icky, nah. In the words of the Dragons: "I'm Out!"
