After much debate and discussion it has been decided that we will no longer have an Erotic Fiction section of the forum and this will be removed in the next week.
I know this won't be a popular decision with everyone but the decision has not come lightly and we feel it's for the best.
The reason we've decided to remove this section of the forum is because it was originally intended as a place for members to discuss books they'd read and recommend good erotic fiction for others - like a book club. Somehow over the years, it's transformed into a place to submit your own stories.
Because the Erotic Fiction section is used as a creative platform it's very difficult to moderate. Firstly, the time it takes for one of us to read an entire story can take a long time, and this takes us away from other important jobs we need to be doing. In addition because story writing is art, there are a lot of 'grey areas' when it comes to our rules. It's impossible for us to apply our standard community rules to this section of the forum. Rather than write a whole set of new rules for one section of the forum, we've decided to remove this section of the forum.
We will replace the 'Erotic Fiction' section of the forum with an 'Erotic Book Club' thread which will belong in the 'Off-topic and Games' section of the forum.
The Erotic Fiction area has been scheduled for closure on Wednesday 16th April.
Anyone who would like to keep the stories they've submitted and doesn't have them saved elsewhere, please do find them on the forum and save them on your computer. As soon as the section is deleted, all work which has been submitted and not saved will be lost.
That's a shame but totally understandable. It must have been a headache to moderate. Whatever is best to keep the forum happy and healthy! There are plenty of other outlets for posting erotic stories.
That is understandable from the moderation point of view but a real shame for readers as the quality of writing is so much better than on other free sites. It would be great to know where/if our regular writers are going to post their creations.
I think that is really sad as there have been some outstanding contributions over the past year ( that is the time scale that I have been reading this section).
I do understand the descision from a LH point of view but I will miss this section as it was my favorite.
Can I take this oppertuniry to thank all of those who have contributed to this section and say what a very talented bunch of people you are. There are certain members that I feel could give some current authors a run for there money and even outshine them. I would honestly pay to buy their books if they were published.
Regrettable, but we see where Lovehoney is coming from so totally understandable. Thanks to the many writers who have entertained and aroused OH&I in the past month that we have been members of the LH community. :)
maybe lovehoney could reward the forum members = customers who wrote the best stories by publishing a compilation book? likely to sell too.
Honestly? I don't think that would be appropriate. People shared their fantasies knowing they wouldn't be published as a result of this, and I don't think Lovehoney could judge who wrote the best stories - that wouldn't be fair. Besides, they're an adult product retailer not a publisher.

In theory I think that would be a lovely idea, obviously with the permisson of the members who submitted the writing.
It would probably be a bit too much work and trouble to filter through all of the posts and decide which stories to use, so I doubt it would happen. It if was to, an ebook similar to the erotic fiction competition winners from a few years back would be a great option.
No rules are being changed here, you can still post links to things as long as they aren't illegal, competitor sites or advertising, and as long as they are relevant to the topic and not spam :)

Pretty much all blog references are effectively 'advertising', but they are not advertising anything commercial, and having them in one place obviates spam.
My worry is that sites like Literotica provide erotica for people to enjoy and Lovehoney [] also sell erotica and that might class as 'competition' and thus more problematic 'advertising'.
