kegel balls after hysterectomy

I'm thinking of buying some kegel balls, been mainly looking at the Swoon or Bluebella ones . Read a lot of reviews but I'm just wondering if all kegel/jiggle balls are suitable for use after a hysterectomy, I was told by someone that some aren't, could anyone give me a bit of advice?
I should just add that my hysterectomy was 7 months ago and I have done pelvic floor exercises but I'm rubbish at remembering to do them regularly. Husband says I feel fairly tight considering I've had 3 kids but I don't think it would hurt to improve on this .
Also with the Bluebella ones it says insertable length 7inches! that seems like quite a lot, does that include most of the tail part? Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Hi wildflower.... That was exactly my issue. My hysterectomy was April last year, and felt it was time to get the vagina gym operational😄
I got the bluebells ones when they were on sale, and have not regretted it at all.
The length also sounded daunting, but when I got them, that is also the tail.
They are not too big.... Or too small either, and they are a reasonable weight... At least good enough to get things moving. I find them easy to insert with a bit of lube.
I am glad I have tried them... As things are certain moving in the right direction.

Hope that helps

You absolutely can use kegel balls after a hysterectomy and seven months is probably plenty of time. I was using mine well before then and the GP was happy with that. When the uterus and connecting tissues are removed, some of the support for our internal organs is removed. That increases the risk of prolapse, so it's even more important for us to strengthen those walls. It's about increasing muscle tone, not necessarily getting tighter. Stronger muscles mean stronger orgasms too.

The insertable length is probably going to be more like 4.5 inches; the seven inches will include the removal cord like you said. If your cervix was removed as well, your vaginal canal/vault will probably be a bit shorter which could cause discomfort until it's stimulated or you're aroused. Some of the longer kegel sets are ok to wear half-in for a bit if you need things to lengthen out. Awkward, but manageable if you have some privacy.

Have you looked at the Je Joue Ami set? It's pricey, but quality, there are three of them - and they're shorter. From what I've learned and what you write (three kids + fairly tight + hysterectomy), I think they might be your best bet.

But do get some sort of kegel exerciser. It's really important to keep those muscles in good shape.

Thanks naughty mum and rose hip for your helpful replies. I initially liked the look of the Bluebella ones cos they seemed a bit more streamlined which I thought would make insertion easier, nice to know someone in the same situation getting on with them well nm.
I did look at the Je Joue Ami set, they look great but don't think my finances will stretch to them at the moment unfortunately.
I did ask my consultant about loss of vaginal length before my op and he assured me that it would be so minimal that neither myself or husband would notice any difference and I must admit everything feels pretty much the same as before .
Will definately be getting kegels of some sort :)

Theres a set a balls in the 50% sale wildflower... Might be worth a tryout

I’m not sure kegel balls would stop the feeling of a penis or toy pressing on your bladder but they certainly won’t do you any harm.

Generally, you start light and large. Unfortunately both these are relative terms. Too large and they can be uncomfortable, too light and they won’t do much.

Id either suggest going for a set (that way you can work your way through different weights) or something like these or these . If you insert them and can’t keep them in at all, you need to go for a lower weight (and maybe a larger ball) but if you can insert them and pretty much forget they are in there then you need to go heavier and/or smaller.

You have 2 choices in terms of wearing them. You can either pop them in and just go about your day, therefore leaving them in for as long or as short a period as you like. Alternatively, you pop them in for around 10 minutes and actively squeeze and release the muscles around them. About 10 repetitions and hold each squeeze for around 10-15 seconds. You only need to do this every couple of days.

The first option is simpler but may take longer to see substantial results (and you may find you plateau quicker). You’ll get better results with the latter, and you can combine the 2 practices, just don’t over do it. Your kegel muscles are still muscles like any other so don’t go too crazy too quickly.

My OH had a hysterectomy in her 30’s for health reasons, she has used Kegel balls with no problems.
