LH anal lube OK for vagina sex?

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. I saw a few topics but couldn’t really see the answer.

I like buying the large 500ml pump Lovehoney LH anal water based lube. I’m guessing it’s a thicker and longer lasting version of their normal regular water based lube.

We have some Yes vaginal lube left but it’s a small sized product with a fiddly annoying easy to spill flip lid.

If I remember I use the yes vagina lube on my Penis and vibrating cock ring and LH anal lube for butt plugs, masturbator and prostate massager / anal dildo.

The other day we didn’t use Yes and just used the thick long lasting LH anal lube and I put it over my Penis and cock ring for vagina vanilla sex and reapplied a few times as we were having a long session.

  1. Is LH anal lube OK to use for the vagina or might it dry out or cause any problems?

  2. I read the best pH for vagina lube is 3.8 - 4.2 but can’t see any pH information on either of the LH products just in case anyone might know that?

Many thanks.

Most lubes are similar formulas with the viscosity of anal lubes just being increased. The ingredients of the LH water-based lube and the LH discover anal lube are exactly the same, so this is most likely the case. It should be completely fine to use it in the vagina, as that is actually something that is a “foreseeable use” that would have had needed to be taken into consideration :+1: Benzoic acid is most likely the pH adjustor in the formula, and works best at an acidic pH so one would think that the pH of the lube would be suitably low, and though sodium hydroxide is alkaline it can be used in acidic formulations to maintain the pH  On a personal note, I use the discover anal lube vaginally and have never experienced any dryness or irritation from it :+1:

In theory, just because it is marketed as an anal lube, doesn’t mean it can’t be used vaginally. There are definitely people on here that use it vaginally with no issues. However, everyone’s pH and tolerance to changes will be a little different (and in particular those who have gone through the menopause will have a higher pH generally).

If you’ve used it with your partner and they had no problems then you should be ok. Vaginal pH can vary with the hormonal cycle though so I would keep it under review for a while.

Like most lubes, it will be personal trial and error and might be worth picking up another tube of Yes while you make sure it is ok

We use LH Discovery anal lube all the time. It’s great for vaginal use, for lubricating masturbation sleeves and, of course, for anal toys and anal penetration.

Thanks everyone and great information @rosiedosie - I think the LH anal lube will be fine for backdoor and vaginal and will save having different tubs. With and without lube my wife can sometimes be a bit sore or irrated thrush like after sex but think that could sometimes be due to her being a bit run down or not enough ventilation below for gym sessions so the other day with the LH anal lube was fine for her and she did say she enjoyed using the lube. Cheers.

Lube’s lube! As long as you don’t rub it inside your bum then your vagina straight after with the same hand, you should be okay

LH Discovery anal lube is our go-to lube for everything. We have other lubes, but it’s the one that usually gets taken out of the drawer no matter what we are doing. Haven’t had any problems at all.

If its a recurring issue, you could exclusion test it by switching your normal lube out for something else.
Sliquid sassy would be a good one to try, and i know many people do also use that one vaginally.

If you want to know the lubes ph (and its not written anywhere) you could get some ph strips/litmus papers and (roughly) test it yourself

Thanks @Green_Eyed_Girl - it’s not reoccurring thankfully. Out of 10 times us having sex we use lube 2-3 times. My wife sometimes get a bit irrated normally with no lube. Sometimes she’s perfectly fine we have sex, she orgasms 1-3 times (Clitoral stimulation) and she has no problems days afterwards.

Other times she has thrush like sore symptoms and sometimes takes a thrush product. She thinks I might be a symptonless thrush carrier but I don’t think so.

I’m lucky everytime we have sex she gives me oral sex. Maybe 1/20 times she’ll have sore throat and think it’s me but I think it’s just a common cold thing.

My wife likes a lot of sleep. She loves at least 8 hours+ so I think when she goes a few days getting 6-7 hours a night (which some people would be happy with) she might just generally get a bit run down and maybe a bit drier or more prone to irritation. Cheers.

After using LH anal lube on my penis would it be OK to receive oral from my wife, does anyone know?

Is it roughly OK for oral sex or a big no no if it might upset people’s stomach or mouths cheers.

It’s fine for oral and won’t do any harm in small quantities (ie the amount you’d usually use for sex acts)

Thanks @calie we would both use our hands quickly on me anyways which should clean most of it up. Might have to try some flavoured lube at some point for a change
