That is the exact reason why I began trimming many years ago (even at 18 lol) because the hairs just became stuck in the end etc because of my teeny-weeny and have carried that on always.
A few years ago due to old-ness it became essential to shave the shaft too, and that has progressed to manscaping the area properly.
Additionally, about mid 20s or so I began trimming my underarm hair with the scissors carefully to about 5mm, as having a more physical job for many years it was game changer not to have unpleasantly stuck together hair and the deodorant seemed to make it worse.
What seems strange is, for such an intelligent person, how absolutely aloof my wife is about so many things, especially around sex. I love her dearly, and have tried to be conversant with her, she doesn’t seem to be interested in exploring sexuality to any degree. We are very happy in so many ways, and really enjoy each other and do explore food, and travel, probably our most enjoyable moments.
Not at all! I find it’s nice to manscape my hair as personally it makes me feel good about my body and when my hair gets too bushy it actually makes me itchy and uncomfortable!
Maybe she’s just comfortable in her own body and happy with her sexuality as it is. Maybe she doesn’t feel the need to explore because she’s already confident that she has explored everything she wants to explore and just wants to enjoy other aspects of her life?
Everyone’s sex drive, and need to explore sexuality, is different. Hers is probably lower than yours and if she doesn’t have a high sex drive then sex is probably not at the forefront of her mind like it is for you. It might not be a lack of interest or desire to explore, it might just not have crossed her mind that she should.
Honestly, I think you are maybe overthinking this? It seems to me that you are fixated on improving your sex life and it’s taking over your thoughts a bit? I’m going through a bit of a midlife crisis and worrying that I’ve missed out on something or I will run out of time to do new things. Might you be doing something similar, worrying that you’ve missed something or you could miss out on something rather than enjoying what you have?
It sounds like you do have sex relatively frequently although I accept that it’s probably not as frequent or as exciting as you’d like but perhaps you need to take a step back for a bit and find one small thing that you would like to work on together rather than trying to change too much. I’ve also noticed that you talk a lot about your wife not knowing things, not taking hints and not wanting to try new things but you’ve also mentioned that you wait for her to initiate so she doesn’t feel pressured. This sounds like a nice thing to do (and the intentions are good) but maybe you could try initiating and being clear on what you would like to try so she isn’t left guessing and you’re not left frustrated by her lack of guessing correctly? You may be turned down some of the time but that’s not a bad reflection on you, just a fact of life that sometimes sex drives don’t align all the time. I don’t have a high sex drive and usually don’t feel in the mood for sex spontaneously, but if my OH initiates, that’s a turn on for me and I am likely to respond positively.
Sorry that’s long and maybe unhelpful but hopefully something will make sense from that lot! Well done if you got to the end
I actually do feel I and we have missed out on a lot of things we could have explored sexually. And at our ages the end of a reasonable sex life is sooner than later. My wife is happy with our sexual play and generally enjoys making love. But it’s like food, if all you eat is good but unexciting food, you do t know what you’re missing until you challenge yourself with new things on the menu. I’m just trying to challenge ourselves with a wider variety of, you never know what you might enjoy unless you actually try it. I’m not being pushy, though I get annoyed when she resists new things. We will still be able to do what we always have, and enjoy the comfortable intimacy that has always been there. I don’t think I’m over thinking things, only thinking at all instead of running on autopilot.
It’s just down to personal preference really. As for why it became a things I’m guessing partly athletes shaving everything for sports like swimming and cycling, and then the manufacturers realising there was a market there if they implied those with testicles and a penis should do it.
Personally I’ve trimmed since my late 20s for neatness but do have a razor specifically for that area now. Does it make things look better? I thought I so. Does it also itch like a f—ker when it is growing back? Absolutely
