I get it for those not into body piercing at all but for those that don’t mind it or that are into it, what are your thoughts on a male with a navel piercing? It’s not a big desire for me but every once in a while it crosses my mind. When I image search it, it seems to look ok on guys with little body hair and with fit abs. Images of a heavy set bear and it seems to get lost in the fur. I am between those two. More like 6 pack abs packed in a foam lined travel case. As usual for me it’s not about my look as much as whether I am happy with it. Only at 20% interest right now but can’t really see getting this done. Maybe a non-piercing version for summer months when I am bare?
I’m very much of the live and let live attitude when it comes to piercings and tattoos.
I think piercings are hot on men, irrespective of body type, as long as they are comfortable with it.
I think your idea of trying out a non-pierced one is solid, a ‘try before you buy’ kind of deal 
I think it is more common on women, but not unheard of on men. As you’ve mentioned, its usually on guys who don’t have body hair.
I’m AFAB but mostly presenting in my boy form these days. I questioned the thought of getting the belly button and nipple piercings, as those are often “girl” things. Ended up doing it anyways. We’ll see if I get weird looks when the weather gets warmer.

A good few ago when I was mid twenties and I was in better shape i had my tongue pierced twice nipples and my belly button. The tongue and belly piercing lasted longer than the nipples. As I isn’t get on with them .

When I was a much younger man I had belly button, nose and ears pierced. I was a tall & very slim youth with quite an androgynous/goth look and felt the piercings suited my look. By my late 20’s I fell out of love of my piercings and took them all out and now there’s no way of knowing I ever had them. I’d say get them if you want them, you can always take them out if you don’t like them any more

Great comment. When I got my nipple pierced it was just coming out of the female / gay scene but I had thought about it for a few years already. My guiche piecing was the same. Three years of thinking about it before having it done. The navel thing seems to slip in out of desire for me so it’s not yet the time but definitely on the curious scale. I was just kind of curious what others thought of it if they even did. All the image searches always show a body image that I don’t have. Usually fairly bare and fit.
That there is the big difference between tattoos and piercings. One is reversible.

It was the best way I could think of describing my form. I don’t have a beer belly… i am just slightly padded which comes with my age.

“Dad Bod”… I kind of like that phrase and it’s certainly appropriate.
BTW… I don’t work well as carry on luggage these days.
