Had both mine done and had to take them out.
It does increase sensitivity but it does not lower pain threshold. So it is a complete win.
I prefered bars

I don't really think it's that sexy to be honest. My husband has his tounge pierced, and used to have his lip pierced when we were younger but took it out a few years ago when he got successful in his job. He still has the tounge piercing though, I would never let him get rid of that ;)
I had my nipple pierced before, it did increase sensitivity for a little while, but not after the first year. It's the most painful piercing I've ever had!!
Bars. And would do it again tomorrow. Made it a little more sensitive but nothing major.
Very sexy on a guy. My ex used to have sensitive nipples before he had it done and it majorly increased the sensitivity for him. He had a ring put in and I loved playing with it with my tongue.

It's been so long that I can't remember whether they were more or less sensitive before, but the pierced one feels pain much more readily than the non pierced one.
I have a horizontal bar, and was thinking about having a vertical one in the same nipple, as I like having one without. It's also fun to put other things through the hole. paper clips, hair clips, ear-rings, key rings...

I had my lip pierced twice when I was younger, one on each side, but I took the first one out when I was first pregnant and the second one out after I had my first born for a few months. I just felt like it made me look childish. My husband took his out because the majority of people he works with are older and highly professional, and didn't think he would look as professional with it. I still have my ears stretched. I'll not get rid of them any time soon, I know someone who makes custom plugs so a lot of the ones I have look really classy and I can get really elegant looking ones made for the right occasion. I've also found the heart ones that Jess has, I ordered then yesterday! Can't wait for them to come they're so cute!!
It can go either way with nipple piercings. They can be great fun to play with, only if they heal well!
For some, they just don't settle and will hurt a lot if they get caught or even touched. Sadly that was me :(

I've had one pierced, for nearly 20 years, horizontally. I've worn rings and bars, I took it out a few pears ago as I play a lot od sport and got fed up taking it in and out.
I found it increases sensitivity and even to this day and would have it done again. no real dissadvantage, only the bother of taking it in and out for sports etc...
