I am currently doing a little fact finding in order to help promote an app that will be launching within the next few weeks that is solely focussed on trying to keep our children safe while they are online and giving you as parents peace of mind by being able to know what they are doing without physically needing to ask. If you would like to fill out this survey please follow the link below.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

I use an app called 'kids place' on android that locks up their app. Whatever I put in the kids place folder is what they can use. I use 'magic desktop' on PC which only uses child safe browsing. All parents should be using things like this.
We are putting together a survey to understand or know if parents are willing to explore other ways of improving online child safety. To this effect, I am building an application that can help parents pro-actively make this steps. In summary, the application will be able to improve parent-child relationship by allowing the parent to connect with their children to help them to a degree know the kinds of friends, relationships their child(ren) is/are into. Also to help them keep an eye on the child(ren)'s location. The mobile application will by no means violate any children's privacy.
The application allows a parent-user application plug into a linked-user application. The link-user application can only be access if the parent-user sends a request to the linked-user.
Who is the parent-user? A parent-user is the individual with the main application which will enable them monitor and track different information about the linked-user on their smart phones.
Who is a linked-user? A linked-user is the individual who will be monitored by the parent-user. The MUST provide their consent by approving the request from the parent-user to plug into their phone in order to monitor and track them.
The Safety application allows the parent-user to track the following on the linked-user’s phone:
-Text messages (SMS & MMS) received by or sent from the linked-user’s phone based on pre-defined and defined keywords by the system admin and parent-user.
-Calls received and made by the linked-user. In this case, based on pre-defined parameters, the parent-user will get notifications when a particular number has called the linked-user more than 5 times a day and also when they call or receive calls after 10pm.
-Linked-user location where ever they are provided that they are connected to their phone GPS and internet or Wi-Fi.
-The browser history on the linked-user’s phone to know which sites they have visited on their phones.
-The linked-user is also able to send distress signals to the parent-user using one of the key buttons on the phone in a dire situation.
As I wrote in my survey the major problem with applications such as these is that they are easily circumvented by any child or adult with a sparse amount of knowledge - coupled with search engines they are rarely worth investing in.
As a former web developer I appreciate how difficult it is to code something that not only works, but can be administered easily by parents with limited technical knowledge or computer literacy.
That said, good luck with your venture and I look forward to developments.
My boy accidently found a back door to the internet browser on the Kurio tablet last year when he was 7. This Kurio was supposed to be the best child safe tablet on the market last year. I emailed the makers about this. They did not respond. Both tablets went back though because one nearly set my house on fire and the other stopped working about 3 months after use. They were £150 each now selling at £60. Don't buy one! They now have standings and with Kids Place on they have been great.
