New to toys....advice appreciated

Hi all my name is Amy, I’m 30 years old. I’m married with 2 young children. I’ve never really had a high sex drive but recently I’ve been so horny it’s unreal, I’ve started playing with myself it feels so good and I want to start with toys for myself and to use with my partner. As I’m new to this and quite shy about mastering and using toys can anyone give advice on how to pleasure myself I’d love to give myself an orgasm, any advice on toys also I love the thought of anything!!!! Anal, clit, g spot, unfortunately have a small budget so any affordable toys and lubes would be greatfull. Thanks x

Hello! Welcome to the forum. All sounds perfectly normal to me - maybe your hormones are altering after a couple of kids and regular sex, and this can affect sex drive for better or worse! Lucky for you.

Keep your OH in the loop as far as possible - it is all a lovely adventure to share, so keep communicating with each other.

As far as toys go, I think the first thing for a lot of us is a bullet vibrator. These are used externally for clitoral stimulation - the key to lots of orgasms for many women. They can be inserted but they are small and should never be used anally.

Anal toys are different - they have a flange at the end to stop those muscules pulling them in and leading to an A&E trip. Buy anal toys if you want to explore anal play.

If you sign up for emails and keep an eye on this site you will find offers come up a lot. A good bullet vibe would be the mantic one, or (stronger pulses) the Desire one, and they are often on half-price offer:

This one is cheaper and also fun:

After that, the world of toys is your oyster! You could try a Rabbit but I find these tricky to adapt to different anatomies - better a classic shaped vibrator or a g-spot one, or a dildo/wand combined with a bullet. Your partner might like the feel of them massaging his sensitive parts while you use your fingers / mouth / massage oil or candles as well. Just do what feels good, and enjoy.

I'd buy cheap and cheerful to start with , then when you know what you like you can upgrade to rechargable, sculptural-looking, realistic-looking, as you like.

As far as lubes go, I like the Sliquid ones - not cheap but I'm older than you. You might well be happy with whatever you can buy in the supermarket or chemist, but if you need something with more 'slip' then Lovehoney is a great place to look. Avoid silicone lube with silicone toys.

Good luck! It is fun to have time alone, exploring and finding out what you like, and fun to share it all with a partner too.

Wow thank you for your reply very helpful

If you're a complete sex toy novice there's some guides in the sex toy section that you might be interested in :

Hi Amy, now a lot of it is down to personal taste, but my advice is buy the best you can as it will last you much longer. So silicon rather than jelly, as silicon is not permeable and as long as you clean it and store it well it will last you years, jelly is semi permianle and needs to be thrown away every 6 months for hygiene reasons.

My suggestion is this https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=29221

yes it’s glass, no it will not break. It’s in the sale, has two different textured ends for different pleasure, it’s easy to clean, (can be dishwasher) will last a lifetime and can introduce you to temperature play. Personally I love glass or metal dildos cold. So soaked in a bowl of iced water, or chilled in the fridge (in a food bag please), not in the freezer! Or warmed in warm water. Also doesn’t need much if any lube because glass. Enjoy.

If you don't know where to start then this https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=35238 is currently on DOTD for £35, combine with 20% of £30 code will take it down to £28. Several different kinds of sex toys that you could try out with your partner to see what you like while on a budget and then can invest in the ones that tickle your fancy more.

Magic wand would be a great starter. Also could try some glass dildos, you can get some really good ones at a very decent price.

I'll chuck in the link for the whole guide section too while I'm at it. 🙂 That covers pretty much everything, including lubes, lingerie, bondage, etc. 👍
