I'm a regular Lovehoney customer but a forum newbie.
I love glass but I'm keen to try out metal (oh, NJoy, how you taunt me).
Only I'm horribly allergic to nickel, and other than the odd mention of stainless steel (which often contains nickel, ugh), the descriptions of exactly what metal is in the metal toys are frustratingly vague...
Who can give me some advice on safe but reasonably priced non-nickel metal playthings, from nipple clamps to dildos?
'All njoy toys are cast in 316 grade stainless steel, and hand-polished to a mirror shine. There are cheaper grades of stainless available, but we won’t use them – the 316 material provides superior corrosion resistance, a deliciously deep and lustrous finish, and added strength and toughness (although we really can’t believe that will ever be an issue!). Our manufacturing specification calls for medical-grade materials and finish, so you can play in the safest manner – if it’s good enough for your grandmother’s hip replacement, it should be good enough for you-know-what(!)'
It doesn't say if it contains nickel or not I'm afraid but it is medical grade 316 stainless steel -
There can however be small traits of nickel in these items. (What a pain! It must be so hard with a nickel allergy.)
I too have this dreaded nickelt allergy to a pont where I cant where a watch and also have the issue of zippers and the backs of buttons on jeans causing problems unless I always have my top tucked in.
Anyway, I looked into stainless steel items on here, and just took the plunge with two stainless steel items. The brand name is Metal Worx. So far I have used the items and not had any issues whatsoever. Though for me, the rash used to come with prolonged contact, and I am not using the toys for very long periods of time.
The alternative is glass, though you to not get the same 'weighty' feeling when comparing glass with metal.

Hey shinglebeach99
I just wanted to drop in an say that I've emailed njoy to see if they can shed any light on the composition of their toys. My research indicates that 316 steel does contain nickel (boo!), however it is supposedly a medical grade material so this surprises me.
I've also asked our tech team to make an option for us in the 'How it feels' specs that we can use to mark whether a toy contains nickel or not.
It's odd, jewellery made in the EU is now supposed to be all nickel-free - but then most boday jewellery is stainless steel. Guess it depends where it's made.
Now those clamps... *goes off to add to wish list yet again*

No problemo! As soon as I confirm other nickel-free items, I'll add them here for you, so keep checking back.
As for body jewellery, you should be able to find everything in titanium. Fresh piercings should only ever be performed with titanium jewellery, so it should be easy enough for you to find suitable body jewellery. I only ever wear titanium (when I'm wearing metal jewellery). www.bodyjewelleryshop.com have a great selection. I've been shopping with them for years, and have never been disappointed.
