Are sex toys primarily aimed at experienced users, as a virgin who is also new to masturbation things are very tight and finding a dildo that is slim is really hard, 5 inch seems huge to me and there's not much market at all for those who prefer a slimmer option it would seem. IF it's any help, get a strip of paper, measure along from the end whatever girth you're thinking on, mark the point then curl the paper round to meet the mark, now you can actually see how big or small it really is, much easier to relate to than just a figure.
