I am currently studying to be a nurse. This is just my opinion.
i find it frustrating that people think it is sexy. It is sexy that nurses see people in their worst state, it's sexy to get body fluid all over us, it's sexy to see people suffer, it's sexy to be harassed/attacked, it's sexy to work under huge pressure, it's sexy to walk in on a dead body..?
i think nurses deserve better respect than that. While you get cosy over Christmas there will be nurses unable to join in with their family because they are working.
At an end of a shift the last thing I want is sex.
I think it goes back to times when nurses where looking after soilders injured in wars. All of a sudden these lovely young ladies where caring for the brave young men and typically relationships where formed. So the men would talk among themselves about the good looking nurses in the hospital. Also the uniforms where a lot more flattering back then in my opinion. From then the attraction to nurses has stuck with men. Men like to be cared for so having someone dress up as a nurse to look after them is their ideal fantasy: I don't find anyone who actually finds the NHS uniform sexy. I do find lots of young men in my ward who are attracted to the female staff because most of us are in our twenties and it's a natural thing. as a nurse it doesn't offend me if people want to dress up in there own houses for a bit of role play. And as for nurses working at Christmas, this is my first Christmas off in 8 years. I know most of the staff in my ward enjoy working Christmas Day because we get to share in the Christmas experience with our patients. It sucks being in hospital so I get pleasure from knowing I am there helping a patient or there family as such an emotional time of year. And if me bring there means I can cheer up my patients I am happy to work.
Think it's a uniform thing that's all. It doesn't represent that to you because it's just a uniform as is a firemans, soldiers, air hostess, maid. It's only fantasy.
Its the uniform. When I was in the navy and had to wear a uniform to events/ceremonies, we got quite a bit of female (sometimes male) attention. I found it amusing.
Nurses aren't the only people who have to work Christmas. Don't take yourself so seriously. No offence.
i don't think it's so much about nursing as a whole but aspects of nursing that can be made sexy for medical role play. police women cleaning maids air hostesses and school girls aren't sexy professions either but you can get costumes for them there's something about those trades that's sexy for role play and some people get turned on by uniforms

Agree. I'm a nurse and I don't take any offence to the whole nurse fantasy thing. It's a fantasy. My partner is a nurse too and I think he looks good in his uniform, he could definitely look after me any time! It's like any other job, I've always had a thing for police officers, it's the authority and the uniform, not the actual aspects of the job which probably aren't sexy. Doctors are sexy as hell too. It's just a fantasy, a bit of fun :-) x
My partner is a senior nurse and her NHS uniform is definately not sexy. She works hard in an intensive ward and enjoys caring for others who are all in a life threatened state. She never complains and has to work most Christmas's and other important holiday dates.
Nurses are seen as sexy as almost every porn site has them dressed in stockings and high heels and invariably snogging another female nurse. Doctor/Nurse role play is fun for some people as is the general uniform fetish, albeit nurse uniforms from retailers for sexytime are dramatically different from the real thing and made for stockings and heels.
I think you are over-thinking this! Nurses fill a fundamentally vital role in society and work in intolerable conditions of emotional stress. I don't know anybody who doesn't respect them for the people they are and the work they do.
