Is this item really out of stock until January?? Please say no as I love these and don't want to look elsewhere for something similar.

Generally speaking, that date is based on the relationship LH has with and information from suppliers. I've seen dates moved back and forth in the past, so it may come earlier, later or not all.
Your best bet is to talk to live chat, probably during business hours cos then they can call the buying dept and find out more info.
