Thats fab that you were listen too x Keep us updated x
I also get pain sometimes with sex.
I know that I do have cysts and sometimes they burst which give me more pain, but, I have come to associate the pain I now get with erm...bowel habits.
If I am bit constipated then it hurts more - probably because of the pressure/friction (sorry TMI) and the pain is always on my left side as well.
I am lucky that where I live there is no minimum age for smears to be done - as soon as you're sexually active then you're on the list regardless of how old you are.
It's good that you're getting looked at and taken seriously - there's nothing worse than a dr who you feel pats you on the head and says run along now!
Forgot to update...
X-rays... I hate the antenatal whatever they're called thingies they rub the gel on your tummy and use that scanner... I feel like they push into my stomach so much. Apparently no one else hates this and everyone does it when they're pregnant so I'm just being fussy! Tbf though you have to have a full bladder of 2 pints an hour ago and I wasn't seen to straight away, was in the waiting room for about 20 mins so was sooooo desperate to pee!!
Then the internal X-ray, which was totally fine really.. Condom'd and lubed up thin camera on a stick. She even let me put it in myself, but if yours wasn't to, it's so small and nothing to be scared of. It can hurt whilst being inside and moved around but it's all not too bad, was overall MUCH nicer than the appointment with the GP!!!
Turns out I'm covered in cysts so she's referred me for polycystic ovary testing.
xx
Forgot againnnnnnn....
I have PCOS and the pain may be the cysts popping. I guess it *could* possibly still be something else so if the pain stays for a long time (as I am on the pill so that should help with pcos symptoms) then maybe might ask again.
Sucks that I'm full of man hormones but it's better than something serious or damaging!
Pretty pleased it means I have a lower rate of conception too! Yay! (I have tokophobia!)
xx
Helloo everyone. Thought I would update you on my situation as well!.
I haven't experienced the painful sex for a while now, but saying that, I haven't experienced anything sex lately... I found some lumps on my cervix going back what must be a couple of months ago now. I'm too much of a wimp to go to the doctors about it, but I know they are probably only cysts so aren't too worried.
My periods have either been really late or completely missing over the past couple of months though, so I keep telling myself to book an appointment incase the two are linked.
So hopefully everything is ok- I think the period issue is down to a bit of stress/mild depression that I have at the moment, but hopefully I can get a chance to go and check it out soon!
Hope you are all feeling well x
QueenC: sorry to hear that you are suffering from pain, really should head to GP if it still is not going away. With regards them having a female nurse in the room, this is very common practice and is to protect themselves legally. If you saw lumps (how?) on your cervix, then it is likely to be an cervical ectropion which can bleed/be painful around sex. However, you would need a smear/further tests just to make sure that this was the case.

Hi thanks for replying.
i know the female doctor in the room is just a means of sort of covering their own backs but the way he did it was just so awkward. But thats neither here nor there.
As for the lumps on my cervix, I can feel them, not see them. I said to my doctor about lumps on my cervix and he went "your cervix...? um.....". I replied with "yes, I can feel it" and he said "oh.... riiight......", so I'm a little bit reluctant to go back knowing that he will think I'm stupid or not believe me.
The painful sex isn't an issue anymore x

Sorry for butting in...
What do you mean the way he did it was awkward?
It's not necessarily silly to feel as though you felt them.. Whether you did or not, everyones bodies are different.
Some women say they can tell which ovary they are ovulating from. I know someone who told their Dr they felt as though they had ovulated or a cyst had popped on their one side and the Dr responded possibly unsure..but the test results did show that a cyst had popped on the side which the patient had complained about.
Go to the Drs anyway though. Better to be safe than sorry.. xxx
No worries! :)
He was just really awkward. I know a female doctor had to be present, which I was completely fine with. But he did the examination on my stomach, then went to get a receptionist who was on her lunch break, brought her into the room and said "I am examining this girls stomach". She said "oh right" and walked out. It was just a bit weird compared to what I've normally had. Another doctor started telling me about how "when girls get older, they start to experience different things in their bodies". Im 20 years old!
And yeah I will go soon. I can definitely feel my cervix. It's very low down and has lumps on the surface. xx
I would say forget you GP and get yourself to a clinic where they do gyny stuff. You are not too young to getcervical cancer, that can happen at any age after you become sexually active. Particularly if you have been in contact with the HPV virus. It could be lots of things, many already mentioned, it could be that you have a reocccurring urinary tract infection and the pain is where your bladder lies against your uterus/upper vagina and during sex the penis is hitting into the bladder via the vagina wall (goggle anatomy pics to see what I mean).
There are also some sexually transmitted infections that can cause this problems, have these been ruled out? Remember condoms are not always 100% effective at preventing them and you can contract them off long term partners you have trusted- including you can contract them through oral sex even though the risk is smaller.

Hi LV. I've been with my boyfriend for years so I'm preeetttty positive its not a STI. I think I will skip out the middle man and just go straight to the hospital- will they accept patients in the gyno department without a recommendation or doctors note? x
Not usually, you would have to go through A&E which I know someone who has done, but they where in fairly excrutiating abdominal pain (needing oramorph) and that turned out to be PCOS. Just some GP's are not good with gyny stuff. Maybe you have a different GP you can ask to see?
I mention about the STI because it can happen. I was with someone for 5 years and after we split up I found out I had clamydia which I must have got from him as he was my only sexual partner. I'm pretty sure he never cheated on me so obviously he was carrying it without symptoms for a long time.
Ah right. I will just see the nurse at my GP clinic then and hopefully she will have an idea.
On the STI, my partner and I were each others first so it's probably not that. But that is horrible what happened to you! I didn't realise it could lay dormant or unnoticed for so long.

Hmmm.. That'd make me feel uncomfortable too. I hope there's a reason why. Do you have the guts to ask? You should probably write a complaint if it made you feel uncomfortable!
Haha the girls getting older thing sounds patronising but I'd just laugh it off tbh! Are you unhappy with your GP surgery in general or just these two circumstances?
However you chose to do it, get it tested! And yes, Chlamydia is known to have no symptoms! Scary stuff xx

If your missing periods or they are irregular, it could be Poly Cystic Ovaries, going on combined pill will help give you regualr periods, take them for 28 days, 7 days off in which your period will come, and the pill will help with other symtoms too, not sure about pain during sex though. The doctors will send you for a internal vaginal scan and they will see straight away if you have it.
Hope you get an answer soon, i know how frustrating getting doctors do take you seriously can be!
:)
