There is certainly quite a learning curve for both of you! I would suggest you invest in a graded set of butt plugs and use these to re-train your brain that being filled does not mean you urgently need the loo. Aim to fell totally comfortable with a modest size plug in place for an hour or so.
You may also want to acquire an anal douche kit - the simple bulb & nozzle types work just fine and get used to prepping so you can be happy there won't be any mess (since relaxation is the key to being pegged so dispensing with any distraction or anxiety you can is worth it.

We love pegging. It all began for us by me getting penetrated a few times with fingers, tongues and toys to then a little role reversal. Have you considered a double-ender such as the Fun Factory ShareXL or one of the Feeldoes? These tend to be advertised as 'strapless' which does them no favours as they all need a harness to hold them firmly against the wearers clit and to allow for really hard thrusting.
