so that’s pretty much what I do every day due to work. And life @teacake
Android has actually come along way with updates and security updates. I had a Samsung S3 that lasted well beyond it’s predicted years, actually I still have it as a backup.
The Samsung android i had before the one i mentioned i had for 7 years i gave to my mum after she accidentally put her non-smart phone through a wash cycle. So it must be about 12 years old. She only uses the phone/text function but it’s still going strong after sitting in a drawer unused for over 5 years!
Good to hear, but unfortunately too late for me. I gave them many chances and didn’t work out.
I’m talking about all phones android or apple, the more you fully charge a battery the less cycle life you have.
20% to 80% is a good habit when it comes to charging.
There’s a function on my Samsung that automatically stops charging at 80% to protect the battery. I find that really handy.
iPhones after 80% have a trickle charge system and a learning system that knows if you need more battery and then Taylor’s the charge to 100% depending on the time you have available while you normally sleep
I use this as well but I also have AcccuBatery app installed as it has a sound notification when it’s reached it’s charge, with AcccuBatery you can limit the charge to whatever you want it also shows all the battery information life cycle etc..
I have that app too. As you say it’s good for giving you relevant information about your battery status etc but I use it mostly for notification sound when my phone has reached optimal charge.
I have been a big fan of Apple for many years . They were very easy to use until after Job’s death , the new leaders started being more like Microsoft and made them more difficult to use . I keep each iPhone for an average of 6 years . I also usually get the bottom of the line . I want a smaller phone and I do not need tons of storage . When my older friends are having trouble with their ( whatever phone , not apple ) I take a look and usually can’t help them trouble shoot . To me apple is more intuitive . As a side note , I carry my phone in a holster clipped on my belt and each phone gets an Otterbox Defender case . It is hard for me to understand how people buy the latest , greatest , giant phone that cost a fortune , and then put it in their pocket and treat it like it cost nothing . The case also makes my phone much less slippery . Not sure if it is just my age or dried out hands , but without the case I would drop my phone multiple times a day .
I agree about phones being slippery without a case.
I have quite a sturdy chunky case on mine which does add to its size a bit but as I don’t carry my phone in my pocket isn’t a problem.
I often see people casually chucking their phones on the table etc and yes it does look like they don’t value what can be an expensive item.
It amazes me to see lots of people, but mainly young women walking about holding their expensive phone horizontally in the palms of their hands as if to say “come on steal this” especially when phone theft is rife in the U.K.
I keep mine in a wallet style case that cost a couple of quid, and even though I have dropped it a fair few times because i have clumsy, work damaged hands, it’s always been undamaged.
Not on all phones.
Some higher end android phones have stopped offering SD slots. SD cards are simply much slower to read than the phone proprietary hard drive, and customers have been mistaking that for poor performance from the phone itself.
I dont think the Samsung Galaxy S lines are offering SD cards for that reason anymore for example.
Yes you are completely right about some phone manufacturers are now following iPhone with no SD card ability like they are also following the no charger unit.
I will always buy one with a SD card slot.
I find Android more flexible for certain apps …. Im led to believe Techy guys use Android.
I’ve just never had an apple phone
I kee mine in my rucksack or bag when I’m out and about. Nine times out of ten I’ve no need to use my phone when I’m out anyway but I agree the amount of people glued to their phones, almost stepping out in front of traffic or walking into people is astounding and of course there’s the risk of some lowlife snatching your phone out of your hand too.
Yes, mine is always in an zipped pocket or my front pocket.
I only have a gel back case, I keep it in my jeans pocket or coat pocket, the good thing with Samsung is that they use a gorilla screen so it’s hard to damage it.
Had Apple phones since 3GS and I’m more than happy with the operation and technology that comes with it
