I have a suggestion for a community feature of being able to post comments on members uploaded and profile photos. So members can say what they like about the photo or point out ways of improving the photo. Spotting that there are a few photographers like me here who may like to share there knowledge with other members who are new to taking photos. It could be optional so a member who doesn't want comments can disable the feature or delete comments others have posted on their own photo.
What does everybody think to this idea?

Hi Holly Love
Thanks for your suggestion.
Although this is potentially a great idea, the reason we don't allow photo comments is because the images our community members upload aren't for the scrutiny of other members.
Although I can see the practical point you make of people offering advice on photos, this opens up a lot of opportunity for the debate of whether someone is 'bullying' or offering 'constructive criticism' (both of which may be completely unwanted by the person in the photo.)
I like your idea of disbling comments, however I'm sure most people would like to think others will say 'Wow you look amazing" but may not be so happy for someone to tell them how they could have improved the image and with photo comments, there is no control over the types of comments you'll receive. Sadly, it's incredibly easy to cause offense when discussing completely subjective and superficial qualities like looks / poses etc (even some very experienced models I know still find negative criticism a knockback) and we want to keep the general 'vibe' (no pun intended! ) here fun and happy, not business-like or critical. We are the Sexual Happiness People, after all!
On a practical note, we don't have the facilities / staff / time to be able to monitor something like this. We already manually approve every image which is on the site; to keep an eye on everyone's comments too is just something we're not able to do.
Perhaps a better idea would be to start a thread where community members can ask for feedback on certain images? So once you've uploaded an image, you can let the community know, and ask for any feedback from fellow members / photographers / models on the site. This way only the specific image you're wanting feedback on will be scrutinised, and all comments will be public where I can review them easily and make sure everyone is staying happy
Thanks again for your suggestion!
I completely agree with Jess. I don't think pointing out what we don't like about photos would go down well. Say you uploaded a photo you were really happy with and you loved the way you looked and someone commented saying something along the lines of 'this should have been taken from a different angle because it makes your bum look flat' It's constructive criticism but wouldn't it put you off posting in the future?
That could turn into an argument if other people got involved and started defending the person in the photo.
Also, this isn't facebook. I always thought people uploaded photos to show off an outfit to help others make a decision when buying something to see how it looks on a normal person rather than a model.
I tend to look through member photos and if I really like any I will post in the 'Who's photo' thread to let people know.
So no, no comments please :)
Thanks for getting back so quick Jess I like your idea of a thread where people can request comments and advice on photos seems like a much better option than my suggestion and a lot simpler to manage from your end.
a thread like that though would irk me i think .. people fishing for compliments 24-7 lol

Again, I think other websites like Fetlife and so on, would be a better vehicle for this.
Lovehoney is a very happy, friendly place and it would not be in keeping with the general theme of this site, in my opinion.
I think the amended idea of a separate thread for it is the best way to go. It is then optional :)
i agree and think thart fetlife is great for this. for this reason i have added a link to the photo on my my fetlife profile in the comment section under each of my photos on here so that people can comment and love it there. this means i can get the feedback i want whilst not effecting the vibe of the forum here.
perhaps just an extra space for the option of adding a link to your photo on other your other profiles would be nice.
What's fetlife?

technicly it is designd to purposely not have a search function thart allows you to search for people based by age, gender and location as they dont want it to be a dating site but inveriably we all get our fare share of weardos using it like one.
a lot of pervs though but a lot of them have some great advice and amazing picturs and the groups ae a great feature too.

Fetlife handles it nicely I think because it's subtle. There is the 'love' option as well as comments, but you only tend to notice that these even exist if someone actually uses them. I got a 'love' to my photo on Fetlife once (only once!) and I was both amazed and very smiley for ages afterwards :-D
Good idea you have Rag Doll, I think links to your other profiles on other sites would be handy too.
tell me your fet name and ill drop you some Love.
a love function would be nice here but i think they tried this once and it didnt work. after all tough this is supposed to be an online retailer not a social networking site so its nice that there is a community at all.
Actually (carrying on the general theme) a facility for liking posts ala FB on a particular thread would be very useful since it would obviate the need for quoting previous posts in order to say you like them. In fact I can't quote other posts on my Blackberry and even if I could, there's no guarantee that the other person will see the post.
