The critics are calling it a “dumb com”, and it is apparently not like the book. Also, the critics say that it is very explicit.

I haven’t read the book. It is very explicit. I thought it was good, eye opening and well acted. You will not be able to watch Dudley Dursley from Harry Potter in the same light again! The reviews which I read were good ones. Having said that I do not know much about the world of BDSM so I do not know whether this was a fair portrayal in any way

Interesting story, well acted, a fair bit of sub/dom action.
Not exactly ‘explicit’ though. Lots of implied gay sex, but only the most fleeting glimpses of the main characters equipment (which is a shame as it/he looked delicious!)
My Other Half and I finally watched this last night.
It didn’t disappoint at all and we both really loved it.
Really cool to see a pretty major film made of such a fringe culture.
Its was funny and sad and beautifully made.
Alexander Sarsgaard is such a frick’n stud/babe and Harry Melling is just adorable.
Highly recommended to the Lovehoney Crew.

Oh bother, not another movie fo me to watch
I’d like to see the new Wuthering Heights, but I think that the story from the original book has been modified somewhat. Emerald Fennell was really good in “Call the Midwife”, and “Saltburn” was an interesting film.

I went to see WH and honestly wouldn’t bother. I’d rather just watch porn than sit through that. It has pup play, pony play and a lot of domming. But the story is so watered down I really couldn’t connect to any of the characters. The main cast really really needed a accent coach too

I really recommend a film called Twinless if you can find it. Really good.
