Playing while driving

Yes i watch a few emergency responder programmes and only Monday saw one where a young lad about 17 had literally wrapped his car around a tree. The roof was caved in by the trunk and he had severe head injuries from that. He has permanent brain damage and struggles to walk and talk.

The frightening thing is that the O.P. drives for a living and spends hours at the wheel on motorways. Think of the carnage he could cause. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Any activity that distracts the driver is potentially dangerous. This could be caused by the driver themselves or by passengers.

I think people often forget that a vehicle can be a lethal weapon if full concentration isn’t used. How anyone can say they’re giving the road and their car their full attention when they are touching themselves in a sexual manner or having someone next to them doing similar is astounding.

Anyone who has experienced a family member being involved in a serious RTC because some idiot wasn’t paying full attention to the road will understand this.

Sure I’ve made mistakes in the past, I’m not perfect but I’ve never been distracted or distracted another person in a sexual way behind the wheel.

I’m not demonizing anyone either, I’m simply stating the fact that it’s irresponsible behaviour.

It looks like he is still doing it, not something he did in the past in his youth, although not sure if you consider someone in their thirties as being in their youth.

See my post above, i’m sure the young lad who is brain damaged and is still in a rehabilitation hospital regrets his actions.

The fact that other road user’s lives are at risk makes it worse to be gratifying yourself behind the wheel.

Where were you? Were you in my lounge or was I in yours? :joy:

We watched that too and I was very critical of his recklessness. Again, having worked for the NHS and dealt with A&E reports and death certificates (including ones for RTC’s), as well as living under the flight path for landing at a major hospital (if you know Bristol, you can probably guess which one I mean. I say a silent prayer for each helimed chopper that comes in), and having witnessed a horrific RTC which left an innocent pedestrian fatally injured, I’m very critical of people who don’t drive sensibly and safely.

One mistake, that’s all it takes.

I was in my lounge, didn’t spot you! :joy: I live between 3 motorway junctions M6 J10 and J11 and M54. I see on social media news virtually daily serious rtc stories. Also driving to work i see atrocious driving.

Coming home from holiday a few weeks ago I was behind a 40ft trailer that suddenly started drifting into the middle lane. Don’t know if the driver fell asleep or was distracted, but he suddenly corrected. Fortunately it was in the early hours and the motorway was quiet, otherwise he would have caused a major pile up.

It just takes a fraction of a seconds distraction.

Next time put the kettle on and I’ll be there in a flash :joy:

When I lived with my parents (before 2011) I had Junction 18A of the M5 and the A4 Portway nearby, there was always collisions and sirens. Even on the street, cars would tear down our road thinking they’d come out onto the Portway. I used to pray the kids knew the highway code.

Trailers and caravans without proper devices are so dangerous. We used to have a 13ft tourer and that was always fitted with an anti-snaking device before it even got onto the motorway. I’ve also seen a Jeep upturned and a caravan shredded because of high speeds and crosswinds.

If you toy with God, you’ll meet him sooner.

That’s such a silly reply, in any context. Well done.

I think this has been taken wrongly by some. I am sorry to have caused such outrage and I never consider to be driving dangerously.

You’re totally missing the point.

Drugs, drinking, mobile phone, wanking, changinf CD, lighting up a cigarette….. anything that may take your attention from driving is dangerous to yourself and those around you.

Ask a fireman how many bodies they’ve extracted from cars still clutching the lighter they were gonna use to light up their cigarettes.

Distraction is distraction and makes you a more dangerous driver. It’s really not that hard, is it?

What annoys most of us except oblivious you, is that anything that impairs or distracts a driver is dangerous to everyone.

Do we need to explain it another way?

And wouldn’t both be equally condemnable and horrible?

How much one makes up part of the stats doesn’t make one better or worse. What you write is baffling.

That’s good to read. Please, keep it that way.

edited by mod. Probably one of the dumber things I did.

Driving without due care and attention:
Up to £5,000 fine and 3 to 9 points on your licence.

Outraging public decency (if seen by more than two people):
Six months prison sentence or a fine up to £5,000.

Causing injury by dangerous driving:
6 months to 5 years in prison and disqualified from driving until you retake your test.

Causing death by dangerous driving:
Life imprisonment.

All information available through Google.

I enjoy my orgasms and I enjoy taking risks, but none of those are risks I’d be willing to take.
