I would get a pair of stockings with the lace top and then also a pair with the plain top. I personally avoid the hold up type as they just roll down on me, despite their name.
I attach the stockings to the clips and then put them on, it makes it much easier unless someone is there to help you.
The stockings come in different colours black is probably a standard colour but I have some in red too for when I’m feeling slutty. Black and red are my go to colours and they mix well.
