I was hoping you would be able to help, I'm having a huge problem trying to find a good pair of stockings or holdups to wear. My only trouble is, I'm 5ft 9, wear about a 20/22 on bottom as I have such chunky horse rider thighs and a big bum. I purchased a pair of cottelli sheer stockings in the 3x (24-26) which were actually too big, but I LOVED them because they came up really high to wear they should, and didn't roll down. I wore them Saturday night and within 5 minutes of being in the pub I caught them slightly on the chair I sat down on and ripped a huge hole in them and they laddered from top to bottom, so embarrasing. I went to purchase another pair (as I was heartbroken they ripped) and remembered they were discontinued.
LoveHoney have been very, very kind to send me a replacement pair, but this time they sent me these to try http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=30261. Tried them on, and they keep rolling down on my thighs, and I just feel ridiculous and uncomfortable because I feel as though the circulation is going to be cut off in my legs. I've tried the Love Honey stockings, and find them the worst of all.
My battle is that with me being so tall AND chunky, I am having problems finding something that will come up high enough on my thighs without looking like knee length socks, and won't roll down. I'm losing my rag with it and got quite upset when I tried the dreamgirl ones on, as I just cannot seem to get something that fits nicely. PLEASE can you suggest something please ladies? If I wasn't so chunky OR tall, they would all be fine.
I totally feel your pain about the frustration of stockings. I have kind of chunky thighs and am a taller lady (about 5ft 8 here) so know the struggle. I would hugely recommend the new Kix'ies brand stockings that Lovehoney have started selling if you haven't tried them already. The grip on them is unlike anything I've ever seen in other stockings, and they seriously don't move an inch. I've done a full dance and yoga session in them and they didn't slip one bit. I also find that they can reach all the way up to just under my bum if I want to wear them really high, so they're very good for the tallness issue too.
They're the only stockings I've found that actually hold up on me, stay comfortable, and personally I really like how they look - they look loads sexier in person than in the product pictures.

I didn't see that size D was up to a dress size 20 rather than a 22, sorry! One good thing about Kix'ies is that they do have a specific size chart that goes by thigh circumference and height rather than dress size, so you can have a fair idea of whether they'll fit you. The size D is up to 35 inches around the thigh. I often find when buying stockings that they don't have much bearing to general dress size so I prefer knowing measurements :)

That's sweet, popk1n :) I think dress sizes often totally don't reflect the real shape of a person. Some of the pictures on my profile are from when I was wearing size 18-20 stuff and some are size 10-12, but I don't think my body shape ever really conforms to sizes! x
If fishnet is o.k., you could try the LH fishnet ones - I'm 5'7" and not particularly slim, and the fishnet stockings were much too big for me (came up to my crotch with the slightest pull) in plus size. The standard ones fit me better.
However, the LH sheer stockings seem to be smaller, there plus size is fine for me.
Have you tried Kix'ies Hold Ups? They're sized on height and dress size so you may find they fit better than some of the other brands.
They claim to be the best for staying power and fit so we tested them out (me: 5'5, Tilly: 5'7 and Sally: 6ft) and we were all super-impressed with them, like, genuinely!
We made a little video that might give you an idea of our experience? They're a little more pricey than some other makes but, in my opinion, it's worth it. Personally I hate hold ups, but these have converted me!

Jess, I watched the video, but still a little bit wary as I am a 22 AND tall.. If they went up to a 22 I would be ordering the whole range, I just feel it would be yet more disapointment and upset if I tried them and found out even they weren't suitable. :(

I'm your size and height - apart from the LH plus size fishnets, I don't get my stockings from here any more, but from a specialist stockings website, for exactly this reason: whether they are stockings or hold ups, I like them up up, not cutting into my chubby thighs half way down!
