Priligy for Premature Ejaculation

I am looking into taking Priligy for premature ejaculation. My issue is caused by hypersensitivity I think, caused by bad masturbation habits and thinking about sex a lot. I would ejaculate as soon as I am touched, that isn’t an exaggeration.
I have used lidocaine spray (brand called Dragon) and that works but it is numbing.
I’d be interested to hear stories and comments about Priligy. Thanks

This is a new area for me as would say I’m on the other end of the scale in that I find it hard to ejaculate especially in-front of someone, probably down to the meds I’m on, so don’t know much at all about the stuff unfortunately.

Thank you, hopefully you’ll find a solution too

Think the only solution for me is to eventually come off my meds so my brain can feel things again lol

I not sure about Priligy but my boyfriend has been on 75mg Sertraline (Zoloft) for anxiety for over a year and has found this having a big effect on his ejaculation, and now lack of it. He used to cum very quickly before but after a few months of medication found it slowed him down a lot and after about 5 months he hasn’t been able to cum no matter how long he goes for.

I love that he can go a long time and it’s great for me. I thought this would be an issue for him but he says it still feels great but seems to have calmed things down, down there, and he doesn’t feel the urge or frustration from not cumming now.

Not sure if @AJSTAR finds the same but the doctor has said to my boyfriend that these side effects are very normal.

I’ve been on prilligy , it worked for me I used to cum in seconds of penitration, bad masturbating habits and a previous gf who caused a lot of anxiety about sexual performance. after being on it for several months I was gradually able to last a lot longer. After about 18 months I was lasting 5 Mins or more. I did get a mild headache but no other side affects. I’m no longer on it and still last

Yep I can definitely relate to all that, I’m on 100mg of sertraline and been on them years. Thankfully I can vouch so far once you get to the point of no sexual urges it don’t get any worser from there, just that at some point you may start to wish for some sort of sensation to come back and so can be gradually taken off the meds to which everything should return once out of the system :relieved:

@Cw91 Also been in sertraline for two years and can report the same side effects which are negative / positive depending on your view. I mainly went on it for anxiety but I also mentioned premature ejaculation even though I was also needing to masturbate multiple times a day. Sex is still very enjoyable with my wife and I’m ready anytime she wants, I just don’t get the urge to cum or masturbate at all, which has actually been quite useful for me.

Yes definitely has its upsides and downers in parts :relieved:

@gman80 @AJSTAR My husband has considered and been recommended an SSRI recently for stress and anxiety but has stayed away due to the potential side effects you both mention. I think I will show him this thread for info.

Do you really get to a point with the medication where you don’t feel the need to orgasm and don’t feel sexual frustration from not cumming?

Yes that could be a neat idea to let him have a read of this thread and indeed you do get to this point of no having urges or need to orgasm but doesn’t mean your completely dead down there, can still get erected and last longer than normal but just may not climax all the time.
Effects are completely reversible after coming off the meds from what I’ve been told so no lasting changes.

I’ve looked at this very briefly but was put off by the high price. We have a fair amount of sex and I’d probably go bankrupt if I wanted to use prilogy every time :woman_facepalming::joy:. Maybe once there’s a generic version available I’ll try that.

I have been taking the generic Viagra, Sildenafil for “special occasions” which has been helping with my anxiety. Even though the drug itself doesn’t make me last longer, just having the increased confidence sometimes does. And if I climax faster than I’d like it’s not a big deal as I can go again very shortly after.

The biggest help to me though, I think, is just having a plethora of sex toys at the ready to use on my partner if I feel like I need a break myself.

I think it’s true when people say that the less you worry about sexual performance, the less of an issue you’ll find it end up being. That has certainly been the case for me.

Everyone is different and I have been on sertraline twice and both times found similar side effects to @AJSTAR which for me were tolerable for me. It’s a good idea to look at the threads to gather info and do research.

Both times I got to a point where 95% of the time I didn’t / don’t cum and most strangely (for me) the urge and need to masturbate goes away. This does not happen overnight, but for me, gradually up to about 5 months. I still get erections with no problem, we have great sex and our doctor advised that many couples find this a benefit as men with premature ejaculation can go much longer for their partner.

Not feeling the need or urge to masturbate is probably the biggest change for me taking the medication but for me has not been as frustrating or annoying as it sounds. The first time I went on it at university I watched a lot of porn and would usually wank 3-4 times a day which was becoming a bit of a problem for me. The doctor at the time did say ‘it may slow me down’ and I did see the urge gradually decrease to a point I didn’t feel the need to do it or frustration from not doing it. After stopping the medication a couple of years later my drive came back after only a month or two.

Is it right then that if you take one a few hours before sex it won’t make you last longer, but if you take them over a period of time then they will? I’m confused

On a slightly different tack I’ve found that practice has had a significant effect on me. I’ve never had a problem with premature ejaculation but after two years in a male chastity relationship where I’m regularly stimulated and edged but only allowed to come at very infrequent intervals (4 to 6 weeks) I find that I now have much greater control. I can last as long as she needs, I can come when ordered or not at all if that’s what she wants.

Just jumping on this a little with a question that may not relate. I have no problem getting an erection or keeping one, but have a problem with prematurely ejaculating at times. I see that sildenafil can be bought/prescribed for ed but wondered if it would have a positive impact on premature ejaculation as well? Sorry if this has been put somewhere else, just trying to get some info.

No. Sildenafil helps with achieving and maintaining an erection but it has no effect on premature ejaculation, at least not physically. It may affect your state of mind and confidence though so that may or may not have a beneficial effect.
