Problems with bank card

I am just wondering why I cannot use my main Czech bank debit card when paying on LH (I do have the funds there) when I was able to use the card yesterday on Amazon, and 14 days ago to pay for a coach online. And I can use a credit card issued by the same bank just fine. Bit driving me crazy. Any suggestion where the problem may be?

is it a type of card ( eg solo, meastro) they don't accept?

could you link it to a paypal account and then pay?

its MasterCard

I cannot do PayPal because they wont let me as I lack one crutial bit - I dont have home phone. Neither in UK or at home. We decided to get rid of phone line years ago.

If you give customer care a shout via email or live chat they might be able to fix the problem for you :)

I've had problems paying with my card in the past but this has been because the bank hadn't updated my registered card address and the security checks didn't like that my delivery address was different.

That may be it, the delivery address is different, but I put the right card holder address in. And it did let me use the credit card I got from the same bank which I can use in case I need sudden cash ( and I can transfer it easily as I do have the money on my account). Just puzzling Amazon did not seem to mind the card holder address is different to the delivery address. I will give the customer service a shout, thanks.

I have mailed my bank advisor, as it is Czech bank. I do lack money on my UK account right now, so using the Czech one.

Hopefully, as its strange the MasterCard got refused and the Visa got accepted. Also strange as its actually Visa Electron, but when I enter that I get refusal as well that the type does not match the records but as only Visa it passed. Strange

Visa electrons are often used as a 'first bank card' and can be owned from being age fourteen onwards, I believe. At a guess, the refusal of a visa electron but being okay as visa might be something to do with that - the fact that owning it doesn't mean you're the legal age to purchase items from this website. I'm really not very knowledgeable about this though, so I'm likely to be wrong.

Strange. Considering the card is registered as Visa Electron... And from what I heard that childern accounts are only meant to have money put in or taken out, the cards are not meant to be used for payment. And from 15+ you get student account with MasterCard or Visa mainly, sometimes Maestro, but thats very rare even for student account. But there is no differentiation between under and above 18 when the card is issued. I only have the Visa Electron as I have linked credit card account. Visa Electron in my country is very rarely used, I doubt its actually used as the main account card by any bank anymore. You tend to get them with credit accounts, not debit accounts.

All right, I spoke to my bank and I was told that all settings to my MasterCard are correct and they are not sure why this happened

Uhm. My bank did some checks for me and I was told that the MasterCard was trying to go through non secured transaction (which my bank does not support), while the Visa got secured. Or they think that was the problem.

Never had any probs using mine. Debit card HSBC/VISA

Well Visa works for me just fine, its the MasterCard which does not
