never got itchy balls ;-) and im defently ok in the downstairs department lol
I've been following this thread for a while now and I'm still undecided as to what I like. I decided to shave everything off yesterday and it's already stubbly and itchy - I hate it. My problem is that I have really coarse hair, so I don't like the feel of being particually hairy downstairs, but then I can never get a smooth result when I do anything, and I'm not a fan of the totally hairless look (so now I'm itchy and distressed at my new haircut lol). I think I'm just going to have to let it grown back and then just trim it.
Oh le sigh!
I hear your pain Pam! I think I'm meant to be trimmed at most too! I actually prefer that anyway I think than when I've taken it all off. I feel abit too exposed and contrary to other people feeling 'cleaner' I actually feel the opposite as there's no protection there. Just feels weird for me having no hair there. But different strokes for different folks
There're only two problems; stubble (from shaving) & in-growing hairs (from waxing - yikes!).. I can think of. I don't know of any solution yet :-(
Columbus - yeah now I just need to wait for it to regrow, so not a sexy time lol. I definitely feel cleaner when trimmed, but not when I'm all bald and exposed like you said
Definitely agree with what was said earlier though, porn films are to blame for a lot of girls thinking they have to be bald to be sexy pfft!!
I do wonder if it's a generational thing... I'm in my 30s as is my partner and he doesn't care whether there's hair there or not. Equally male friends I have in the their 30s are the same, one's even said he would be freaked out if he was confronted with a hairless one. Yet, it seems that for people in their teens and 20s it's almost like it's the norm now and expected; through porn but also general media and women's magazines talking about hair removal etc as a 'how to' and not a 'if you want to' discussion. Of course, I'm sure there are people on here (and elsewhere) who are in their 30s, 40s, 50s etc. who prefer to be hair-free but it does strike me that it seems to be really pushed culturally nowadays and that it's younger people who seem to think that's how you should be and that being bald equates to cleanliness and 'looking after' yourself etc. When there was that series on sex on channel Four a while back interviewing school age teenagers about their views on things they all seemed to say they prefer women to be hairfree as though anything else was wrong. But these were like 14 and 15 year old lads who'd probably either seen other teenagers or women in porn - so they seem to have been conditioned somehow to thinking that's how women should be in order to be sexy. Then you have these young girls not only waxing and shaving but in some extreme cases (as shown in the 'Perfect Vagina' programme also aired on ch.4) actually mutilating their genitals because they think they aren't normal and don't fit some kind of ideal they seem to have; or that boys seem to have from porn etc.
If you want to be hairfree then God love you and good for you. But if you want to stay as nature intended then there's nowt wrong with that either!!
I'm 26 and I know most of my friends would throw up at the thought of having hair down there, and that's what makes me feel like I'm the odd one out. Like I said, I've done it and i'm now not a fan. The growing it back is what sucks lol
Hmm, it is interesting. I don't discuss pubes with my mates in general but from odd things they say I suspect most of them (my age) have hair but perhaps trim it slightly or maybe wax bikini line. However a couple of friends I have who are in their 20s shave it all of and put it down to feeling 'cleaner' etc. which I just don't really understand! I know people on here have stated the same thing though so I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone's choices - I just find it curious. I mean when I started getting public hair and my friends did there was no discussion about it or about now needing to shave it off - it was just that we were now 'grown' and womanly. I have taken mine all off a couple of times but I've always had the stubble/itching and as I'm not that bothered about being bald down there I don't see the point. I realise that the reason I have contemplated it and put myself through that discomfort is because I had the idea that I should be 'maintaining' myself more down there, and not especially because I personally have any real desire too. Similarly, as I've said, my OH has been with a variety of women some very hairy, some totally shaved, others variously inbetween the two and I dont think a lot of men are actually all that bothered as long as it's not like a privet hedge! He liked it when I took it all off last Valentine's Day (as a surprise) and said that I have a pretty 'flower' so it looked nice (he assures me some are better being covered than being exposed!) but he also likes its 'luxurious fur' as he calls it it's relatively neat in its natural form so I think a light trim from time to time will be where I go with it from now on. I shall be pube-some and proud
I don't buy the "it's cleaner" nonsense - in my view it makes no difference! Some just look better with hair (preferably tidy) and others don't! Also, nobody should feel any pressure to do it - if you're not comfortable, don't do it.
Those spotty children on that programme that Columbus refers to had probably never seen one in real life and in all honesty, would be unlikely to until they grow up a bit!
Hi guys, as i'm new to the boards and with there being some many threads to go through i need some advice and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.
I want to make a more positive effort of keeping myself well groomed, only i'm not sure which is the best method to use. I don't mind if my pubic hair is trimmed well down above my cock and then the rest around the shaft and my balls is completely removed or if i'm completely smooth all over. I just need pointing in the right direction to find the best advice and tips, so any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Beam (hah - excuse the pun LOL!)
As you can see from this thread, there are a lot of opinions on the subject. You'll have to experiment to find what works best for you. As I said in an earlier post on this thread, I started shaving completely when we were on holiday in a hot climate and I found I was getting really sweaty and itchy, so I decided to shave the lot off in the shower one morning to see if it would help. It did, and Herself was very taken with the clean-shaven look and decided to follow suit.
We both liked the increased sensation of contact during sex and especially during oral - no more hairs between the teeth syndrome! I can only speak for myself, but I found my balls became more sensitive to a carefully-raked fingernail. I think that's the main reason that we've kept doing it over the years - it's not a cleanliness thing at all; we've just both come to prefer the enhanced sensations.
Shaving has become the favoured method, purely for convenience and speed mainly. We've tried depilatory creams but they're messy to use and can irritate the skin down there so I wasn't a big fan. I haven't tried waxing it but that sounds like too violent a method to be using on your delicate bits if you ask me.
Shaving works fine, but you need to persevere. As I said previously, the first few times you shave it will be itchy and you may get a rash (PamBeesly - are you listening?). Be gentle and use a light touch, especially around the balls, use a new blade, and shave 'with the grain' of the hair. In blokes, that generally means shaving towards the penis. After 3 or 4 shaves, the older, coarser hair will have grown out and you will find that the newer growth is a lot softer and it won't itch any more.
The first week is tough with the itching and rash, although personally I didn't suffer too much from rashes once I'd figured out the best direction to shave in. Aloe Vera gel will sort out any rash problems.
I often trim mine when it is hot as it feels more confortable. I also trim if I am doing a "home" movie as I think mine looks better that way. However I have never cut it short enough to suffer itching or rashes. As for ladies I think trimmed but not bald looks best. It is of course their choice. Lastly it is the whole person rather than just a single part of the anatomy that makes someone sexy so I wouldn`t worry too much about it.
I've just sorted mine out for the first time ever. My Mom and friends had always warned me not to as it "itches like a bitch". My friends words. ;)
It does indeed itch and all I did was a trim down. I would have shaved but I don't think I want to, as it looks so much better the way it is.
Does it stop itching after a while? =)
Ok cool, thanks for the input so far

Try exfoliating before and after the trim. Personally I prefer to shave completely as when trimming the ends of the hairs can be rough and make you sore so I find it really easy to just keep shaved but exfoliating definately makes the world of difference for me.
5mil good advice there, I'll add to that,if shaving exfoliate before and after and try using those razors that have a metal grill over the blade, cuts are not pleasant down there and the metal grill protects you a littl!

I never thought about exfoliating, AdnaW - that's a great tip!
I should also just emphasise that I am talking about a wet shave, in case that's not clear. I don't like using an electric razor even on my face, as that gives me a rash every time. I just use a bog standard single-blade safety razor and shaving soap, although I dare say one of the high-tech multi-bladed razors would be as good or better at the job.

I use a multi - bladed gents razor (designed for corser hair) less itching than with a single blade I find.
Exfoliating was revolutionary for me, I couldn't shave before I discovered that little tip as the itching was unbearable.

I just have to put a quick in-put that I agree with everything Coloumbus has had to say on the matter (in fact a lot of things on this board lol).
I prefare having hair.
Mainly due to:
No.1. Being a bit overweight there is weight down there too and it just looks like a plucked chicken and really stands out not nice lol
No.2. The regrowth hurts too much for my liking and is very irritating.
I do agree that nowdays there is a huge pressure to be hair free and it does make me feel self consious but im just trying to embrace the natural me and not be worried about what people think.
I have always been interested in shaving, and I have very recently bought some of the 'Wet' gel to see if this will help with my post rash's ><
Just trying it out and that, but does any one know real good products on here that I could try if this doesn't impress?
Also, best thing to use after?
Thanks guys!
I use a razor with an aloe vera strip, ordinary shaving foam and shave it all off, I prefer to be smooth, it feels so much nicer I think.
