Totally clean is best, but a small amount you may get away with, though you may need to keep pumping rather than pump and leave, keep at it, and you'll eventually get some really impressive results, that may look/feel a bit worrying however it will quickly go.

Following on from "yes man" if you do it in the bath with the equipment fully under water/full of water, the effect is much greater, as the water is not as "expandable" as air.
