Rant Thread - Get it all out here

I feel for you, your health is very important to you but toys are not going to harm you (unless you use them in a different way? Your mothers from a different generation and will have different views. Stay positive, think about a lockable box for the future but stay true to what you believe and enjoy when you can.

@Kitty-Cat01 - what a horrible experience, hun. Take a big old virtual hug. :hugs:

@Queerantine - Holy f**king crap, what an atrocious piece of work your mother is! Chin up, love. Be proud. Own it. You’re a grown up: you have sex toys. Big deal.

PleasureDrone’s 2-point plan:

  1. Get a lock put on your bedroom door.
  2. Gather ALL your toys together, lay them out on the dining table and give her a long, detailed explanation of what every one of them is for.

You can omit step 2 if you like. But oh the look on her face if you did…

What a primitive attitude your mom has, as well as being nosy!

Ahaha! Step 2 certainly sounds a wonderful idea, but perhaps not while I am still living with her

I’d love to have a lock on my door but unfortunately it’s not super practical. I do wish I’d hidden my toys (and some, uh, other stuff) better, but I was admitted so suddenly, I didn’t even have time to think about sorting my things out.

I’m hoping I will be able to move out soon and have to deal with this kind of nonsense a lot less.

Eeeek. I wouldn’t worry much.

My mum was a bit weird when she found out how many I have :joy: When I explained a chunk of them were testers and a lot more people use them now compared to years ago, she’s come around to the situation. It is completely a generation thing, so don’t over think it :orange_heart:

Can I just shout out…OWNING A SEX TOY IS TOTALLY NORMAL and no one should tell you otherwise :clap:t2:

Absolutely! I’m don’t feel ashamed of having toys. My mum is extremely sex negative and also very homophobic, so, in her eyes even owning one sex toy, or having sex without a committed heterosexual relationship makes you sex obsessed and kinky. I’ve given up on ever changing her mind about anything though, she’s unfortunately very closed minded.

Its not on of her to be going through your things, let alone judging you on anything she finds. You have a right to privacy, your own opinions and views. What you choose to do is up to you, not anyone else. If you want to use sex toys there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
People Imposing their opinions on others is not kind. And neither is making your life difficult or embarrassing you in such a way.
Sex toys are incredibly common now, the likelihood is many people you know own, use or have tried a sex toy at some point in their lives (according to some surveys it could have been as high as 48% of people in the uk pre covid. I can guarantee it’ll be higher now).

Like @PleasureDrone said, lock/lockbox :+1:

Ah i know the situation you’re describing. 1 set of my grandparents have some very questionable and bigoted opinions too that I’ve honestly had to give up trying to explain or change their minds. It doesn’t help most of my family agrees with the milder bits so makes for very awkward experiences trying to stay quiet sometimes (you should have seen the look my friend and i shared the 1st time they said something in front of her)

So sorry to hear that @Queerantine, sending some hugs :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Thanks everyone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: @Knight1119 @WillC @Dirty-Wife @Green_Eyed_Girl @Peitho @wildflower
@KinkyMira @Gazza_64 @PleasureDrone I’m fine now, no harm done. Went out for a meal and drinks with a friend last night which was lovely. I’m definitely going to look into getting a dash cam. If I’d got his number plate I’d have reported him but obviously it’s not easy to remember something when you’re shaken up. He’ll get caught doing something stupid one day.

Glad to hear your ok @Kitty-Cat01 he will get caught one day. At least you had a good night with your friend though :relaxed:

Sorry to hear that @Queerantine, that’s the last thing you need to be dealing with! She shouldn’t be going through your stuff for a start and then to lecture you about something that’s none of her business is just unfair. Sex is not something we have or would ever discuss in our family, I think that’s why I’m so open about sex - I’ve realised how helpful it would have been if we’d had those conversations. I hope you manage to get past the awkwardness and you get to move out soon, sending hugs :hugs: :two_hearts:

So, today was my first shift on the bar since lockdown was relaxed and it wasnt a bad day.
Went for a few drinks with colleague and manager which was nice.
Thing is, the conversation turned to how our company is failing us and how after 15 years there is still no chance of promotion and despite everything opening our hours are being cut to maximise profits.

Ive always tried to stay loyal to a company etc but after everything that has happened i am losing out and feel worse off then most places that have re-opened

Sorry to hear this @zombifiedguy it’s a strange thing to say but sometimes you’re loyalty isn’t rewarded with some companies! Maybe you need to start to think about being loyal to yourself! If you want to push yourself up the ladder so to speak, maybe you need to seek out somewhere else to do it :grimacing::pensive:

I have no idea what i would be doing otherwise or and it isnt the best time for change (lockdown etc).
I feel like im too old to really make big changes etc

I don’t think you’re ever to old for change! If you want something more from you’re job I’d say eithe ask the question where you are or go seek it elsewhere! We work a lot and I really think it’s got to be something we enjoy and vsn get something out of! I always wanted something more from my job, it’s the reason I started my own company!
Hope you get things sorted and get to where you need to be :muscle:

Not sure how old this post is but your flatmate/housemate sounds like he has some serious issues nothing to do with what your doing or he wants u for himself and is using excuses not to have your partner there either way I think he needs to live alone I would speak to the landlord in private and explain how strangely he’s acting I think this could escalate and u deserve to live a normal life in your own home aslong as u respect each other’s agreed boundaries this guy seems to in his own world u could try and sit down with him or do it through text if he won’t speak and draw up a contract between you two and agree what’s not acceptable on both sides and if you both sign it then u can record any time he is going over the top and Impeding your life

Or he fancies you? and doesn’t like it when you have your boyfriend around.

A past girlfriend was in a house share and when I would stay over someone didn’t like it never found out who but then the landlord said if I’m staying over I should be paying rent which was ridiculous as I wasn’t using anything more, I was there to see my girlfriend and baby. I was only coming over at nights after work. The house wasn’t great at all. He was just the type of landlord that wanted more money.
