Review round up!

Just had a look at the review round up on the blog post: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/blog/2010/11/12/best-sex-toy-reviews-november-12/

I looked at the reviews and I'm not being rude or anything, they are ok reviews but they dont strike me as brilliant or earning a place on the review round up. They didnt really make me want to buy the product or give that much insight into it. It seems to me they are just picking reviews that have a witty one liner, doesnt matter what the rest of the review are like.

I'd agree with ya there MM but as I'm new and the reviewers are members longer than myself I'm not going to comment on it too much.. funny maybe but inspiring no!

I'm sure though that it must be very hard for whoever is in charge to keep up with worthwhile reviews considering the quantity of them!

Well I have been here for around 7 months and I have checked on the review round up and they mostly are quite good reviews with a humour to them. However they gone down hill this week and they just seem to be about the one liners instead of the actual quality of the review. I write reviews how I would like to seem them, very informative. I understand not everyone is like this and some want light hearted as well. To be a good review will be like you have seen the product and will pick out the main points. It doesnt matter if its a positive or negative review.

I get that it must be hard but it just seems like they are picking funny one liners over review quality and helpfullness which I didnt think the review round up is supposed to be about.

I think sometimes LH tries to balance regulars/appearing to have favourites and newbies/getting a bigger reviewing (photo or forum) pool and I'm not always sure it works. I think there has been some excellent reviewers and models before that have lost to newcomers simply because they've won before or are more established, there has been accusations of favouritism before too.

I don't think the best always wins but people who tend to write one good review tend to write lots and maybe it would be seen as unfair to constantly give the same people a mention. I would much rather know why someone gave a product a great review rather than them just mentioning that it was a great product but not everyone thinks about the product as a product, only its effects.

There has been quite a few upsets in the past concerning reviews, who wins something, why, was there bias etc... Although it's not a perfect system I guess we just have to be happy LH are willing to listen to us in reviews and the benefits that come with that. I think it's a shame, that in my opinion, some of the wrong elements are used sometimes but for LH they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. LH shouldn't seem like a members only club but neither should people be excluded based upon past successes so to speak.

Saying all this LH can only use what is put in front of them. Perhaps it was a slow review week, perhaps other reviews were not up to scratch for what ever reason. It's much easier to condemn than understand so for that I feel for them but I would like a bit more objectivity in such 'merit' mentions, that's why I liked the idea of votes but that would lead to the forum dominating things which too is bad! I just take up the postition that I enjoy it here and even if I disagree with certain elements (like any website I visit) then that's life, if they choose to share something in a certain way then that is great!External Media Try not to get bothered by it MM.

*share something with me in a certain way (blog mention, tester, even just a response in the forum from a staffer) then that is great.

Hi Masquerade Minx, we see the weekly review round-up as a more light-hearted look at the reviews submitted each week. Often, they also highlight new reviewers as a means of thanking them for joining in.
We've expanded the review of the month recently to highlight (and reward) even more of the real stand-outs, and we try to save those for the monthly post rather than repeat the weekly picks.
The most important thing for LoveHoney is to recognise all different types of reviews for their different merits. I hope that helps explain the rationale behind which reviews are featured in weekly/monthly posts. External Media

That's great Alice - I've sometimes got a little gutted because it seems that funny reviews are more appreciated than detailed ones and I'm not a funny person :( I try to make up for it in effort and detail though so it's nice that there's a good balance! Some are recognised for humour (some of which is brilliant! Some very funny reviewers out there!) and some for other merits!

Yeah I know but I read the reviews which seemed to be in two camps 'Its amazing' or 'It didnt fit.'

Thought I'd take my chances and see if it fit
