I do this, but I think my method is a little different. I try to separate ejaculation from orgasm, so I stay excited and continue the fun.
It’s difficult to get the timing right, and to completely stop stimulation, but it lets the fun keep going after ‘it’ calms down a bit.

In my experience, 2-3 dry orgasms is all I can take. Finally finishing will be more explosive if you can hold off that long. I have not had dry orgasms in a while, it takes me a long time to get to one now, I would not put my OH through the process of going that long. It is unfair to her, and we both get sore by prolonging it that long.
