Sensory Deprivation - Sound

Hi Guys,

I want to play with sensory deprivation with my wife. Whilst I know about blindfolds and restraints I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for depriving her of sound.

Obviously something like earplugs could be used but are not very sexy. Has anyone used anything like earmuffs or should I pipe some sexy music down some headphones?

Any suggestions?

How about noise cancelling headphones plus music? Even without music they are pretty good at cutting most things out- I wear them at work to blot out my colleagues! But I reckon with a sexy playlist of your creation it could be pretty hot.

Nice idea actually! Think I'm gonna have to use that one... ;)

You get super small ear plugs that are great:

And cheap too :P

Earplugs are probably your best bet to be honest.
You can get full deprivation hoods, including sound, but they're an acquired taste- they personally creep me the hell out.

Noise-cancelling headphones might work, but also may be uncomfy and easily fall off. So in ear ear plugs are probably your best option.

Lol. I think the music idea would be good but will it distract her from what I'm doing to her?

Obviously sensory deprivation is supposed to enhance sensation but I'm wondering if this will have opposite effect?

Why just use one thing?
I find even when using earplugs I can still feel if not hear the sound, so use some low level bass sounds to help block out those sensations

Well that's the thing, for true senseory deprivation, you can't apply music, as that's additional sensory stimulation.....

Exactly. Earplugs and something like earmuffs?

This is probably just my thing- but I am really responsive to music, so I reckon it would heighten anything else that was going on (assuming it was the right kind!). Guess it depends on your partner though.

How about earplugs plus a long scarf- you could use this as a blindfold and cover her ears with it by wrapping it around her head several times...

Thanks. I have just ordered the Dominix Braun blindfold so hoping to use that for this session.

We prefer goggles, like ski goggles blacked out so when you wear them you can open your eyes wide to blackness. When you wear a blindfold you are conscious of keeping your eyes closed.

I personally use silicone hello kitty ear plugs during sessions, and headphones for others ^_^

Headphones are often used during bondage massage / bondassage, with some sounds and music to help people relax into a form of subspace. Although if I'm doing some extreme mind-fuckery, I might use head phoens with the silient hill background noises (or smilar horror background noises), or repeative vocal script with a hypnotic nature.

Water is a good sound muffler, although it's hard to do water play, as really you need a swimming pool to make it easier in regards to room, however their are kink groups who hire out swimming pools for a few hours to do such things in (like trust exercises almost I guess, tiolting subs into water, to even water rope bondage).

Noise cancelling headphones seem like a good bet too.

Make sure she's genuinely up for sound deprivation and start gentley.

I cant' stand it, I thought I would enjoy it as I love blindfolds and being tied up. But the muffled noises are too similar to what I get during Labyrinthitus attacks and makes me panic.

Have you considered playing white noise through noise-cancelling headphones? That might solve the problem of distraction while giving some noise to help cover up anything happening in the background.

There's plenty to chose from on Youtube. White noise, Pink noise, Rain, Fan, Airconditioning. All up to ten hours long. It's probably worth a try. Let us know if noise works.

Take your pick.

Enjoy. x

The sensory deprivation I've done has been wearing earplugs with headphones over the top. You can then play white noise through them high enough to drown out pretty much everything without hearing damage.
