Sex drive and low testosterone

I have started having problems with getting erections over the last few months I still get horny but I can’t get a hard erection at the start of relations and when not enough stimulation I was wondering if it could be as a result of low testosterone?

You need to get it tested - a blood test via your gp will give the results

Good luck

It could be low testosterone, but it could also be one of a number of other things. Only way to know is to see your GP, who will probably want to do some tests, including a blood test.

Thanks I will try to get another blood test

I had very similar symptoms and when i was tested my testosterone level was iff the bottom of the scale.

Testogel sorted it out very quickly .

I am already taking a testosterone injection every 10 weeks I am just wondering if that is enough. I will try to make an appointment with the Gp in the next few days. To see what they can do

My treatment is a daily HRT gel.

I used to be on testogel I just kept forgetting to put it on that is why I started the depo injection instead

Guess you could get tested for this but I’d have thought it wouldn’t make much impact on erections as such. Can you vaguely remember when this issue started and if there’s anything new or different you’ve introduced into your lifestyle?

I have type 1 diabetes as well and I might be getting neuropathy from that but I just worry it is more than that I am scared I am loosing my ability to get erections.

I am and OLD GUY and other than testosterone and treatment , weight gain and physical fitness are key players . When I was young and in great physical condition I could chisel granite with my erections . Now a bit less so . I have had life get in the way of having time to stay in good shape . I am hoping to change that by summer time . Other medications can also be contributors . Good luck .

I am on lots of medication for diabetes depression, statins and they all gave me side effects, but I need them to survive this world lol.

I can get a semi enough to masterbate but don’t get as hard as used to. I could try taking viagra as you can get it from the pharmacy now. I just want to get to the bottom of it.

Sadly diabetes can carry this side effect for some people depending on how bad you’ve got it but I think there might be some ways you can treat it if do some research

Anti-depressants could be causing erectile problems, similarly if you’re on statins I’m guessing you’ve got some kind if circulatory problem which could also be contributing, as could the diabetes.
That’s why it’s vitally important to see a doctor who has access to your medical records and can examine you and run any tests required to get an accurate picture of what’s causing your problems.

Thank you I will make an appointment as soon as I can.

@lumberjack nowhere did I see you mention age, and profile is private. I see all these meds and can guess you may be getting on up in the years?

like many others mentioned prescription meds all come with a host of negative side effects but the doctors believe the benefits from them outweigh the negatives.

diet and exercise play a huge role is sexual function as we age. some of the tiniest blood vessels are the ones supplying the genital area and are the very first to clog. the bonus here is the BOTH will help all your blood lab numbers, diabetes, blood pressure, high cholesterol and resting heart rate.

lastly low T most certainly effects erection quality and quantity. I’m in my late 50s and still wake up fully hard every morning because of many factors mentioned above. plant based diet (this alone got me off statins after decades on them), exercise, zero RX meds and some minor T treatments that brought back the morning wood!

good luck with your journey

For Me high blood pressure meds caused problem now on cyp.
If you have blood insulin issues suggest you consider carnivore diet. Should correct that and prevent other deteriorations. Carbs can only be converted to sugar in body - all bad.

I developed skin like old person thin and would not heal. No oil dry, could not wash hands skin would crack and not heal in winter. Very poor descision making. No sex stamina more than anything.

Sorry I am in my mid 40s and am a little overweight and have type 1 diabetes, i take a cocktail of meds including the dreaded amatryptaline I think it is spelt which is used to numb nerves in people who have chronic pain disorders. I am fairly well controlled with my diabetes and can still feel my toes :joy:
