I started off with smallest dildo I could find which was 5 inches and bought some water based lube with it to make insertion easier since the hymen was still in tact. I first used a vibrator before I had sex. I would go for something very slim with a small girth. I wouldnt worry about finding something that isn't too long because you don't have to use all of the insertable length but then have the option to use it all at a later date once you get more comfortable using it. x

The Mantric Real that MsR suggests is good but if you can stretch your budget to a Lelo Mona, even better. It's the ideal shape for a first penetration toy that vibrates.
