We thought seeing our favourite toy on the video was pretty cool. The Womanizer has changed our sex lives for the better. If it get people talking and piques their interest not only for the Womanizer but toys and masturbation in general then so much the better.
At first I was like wait… Is that… Oh indeed it is!!! I love it, I don’t think sex toys should be some kind of secret that is only seen behind closed doors. Having a healthy sexual lifestyle should be more mainstream. Self love and self care should be more prominent in mainstream!!! Bravo Katy Perry!!!
I think it’s brilliant and also in light of crackdowns on sex education etc, it’s great to see toys becoming normalised in the mainsteam.
I would say it would be great to see more advocacy specifically for men / people who aren’t cisgender women, often the stigma there is even more fraught
I think it’s great that toys and womens’ personal fun and pleasure are becoming more and more normalised. I’ve personally helped my partner break through the shame she’s developed from school and within her family and if stints like Katy Perry’s video can help that even more, I’m all for it.
I’d be lying if I did’t say I thought the video overall was a bit odd! The toys did obviously feel like strong product placements, but if the net effect is positive it doesn’t matter does it!?
OK I know this is going to be random but I would love to know if there is a significant difference between the womanizer and the Lovehoney Rose.
I think it’s amazing that celebrities share sex toys publically, it’s such a taboo thing that I think it needs to be more normalised and I love Katy Perry so think it’s an amazing collaboration
A compare feature on the official LH site would be brilliant for that! Or buy both and use it was it excuse to play with both.
Great video of Katy’s.
It made me feel empowered watching it.
The video will make Women feel stronger and more confident knowing that sextoys are no longer taboo, being featured on Video’s/TV by very powerful ladies such as Katy Perry.
EMPOWERING It’s another step to change the stigma of the use of sex toys and the old days of being hidden away and a dark secret that no one should talk about. Publicity and promotion like this just helps to normalise.
I think it’s fantastic to see toys being put in more mainstream places and media.
We all know that social media is still a little iffy when it comes to allowing images or discussions of sex toys or sex in general, and tv still portrays it all as fantasy and magic. Not to mention the representation is extremely lacking when it comes to these things.
I’m hoping that this starts a trend that further pushes sex and sex toy discussion to be more open, and eventually allows for more diverse voices to be heard (eg. disabled individuals and their experiences with sex and sex toys).
It’s cool to see it being normalized like this more in pop culture, and things like this at the end of the day will have the biggest impact.
If I buy the new model, will my boobs look like hers?!
Thought it was pretty awesome and I thought - why not? XD
Great! we need to see toys that will make people happy out in the main stream.
I think anything that puts a positive spotlight on sex (toys) is a good thing. Sex and sex toys are fun, the more they are shown as such the better!
Hey @Lovehoney_Brenna a very interesting question
Being of an older vintage, the use of sex toys has always had an ‘air’ of unacceptability about it. A taboo. Something that was never discussed with friends & most definately not with family.
Seeing this toy being publicised in world wide media by Katy Perry brings an element of legitimacy and acceptability to the owning & use of these products that no longer carries this mystic or unacceptable behaviour tag about it.
@Mid-50s_kiwi
The womanizer is such a popular toy so its great to see in such a mainstream way. i think that its about time to destigmatise female pleasure!
Katy Perry has always been a great trend setter and loves to push the boundaries of social expectations. Just like ‘I kissed a girl’, sexual play is in the limelight and helps bring normality to an often under discussed topic.
However, to be fair, it was a poorly executed film clip. The director has created something more closely resembling an advert and disassociated the product from the storyline. Even the advertising subtext felt out of place as Katy is seen waving the device around. I’m sure the producers have limitations regarding how the product can be used on screen, however, as it stands, it draws a long bow between an empowered woman and the device.
It leaves the general audience unsure how it fits in the context, questioning its helpfulness, and convinced they are seeing another menulog ad.
I love to see it in the public domain, and as unpopular as my opinion may be, it simply has been poor executed by the production team.
Thank you for all your feedback! It has been super helpful and the team are very grateful
