How long have you been doing this?
I can’t give an exact answer but it will be at least 5 years now. The Covid years tend to distort memories of time passed.
How did you get this job?
After purchasing and reviewing a number of products (around 15 I think) I applied and was chosen.
What do you like most about your job?
Obviously obtaining the free products or products not yet available to the public is a big part of being a tester. Having said that I like providing information which helps people to make decisions about a product or, in the case of prototype products, I like providing information which may be helpful in developing the product before production.
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
Not really. I love trying out new things.
How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?
I try to keep the format of my reviews consistent in that I describe the packaging first followed by a list of the contents and their appearance. Next I describe the materials, construction, features and operation of the product. The actual product testing follows and I try to evaluate all the features of the item as fully as possible before reporting on how well the product worked for me (or for us). Finally I try to give an objective overview of the product.
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
Yes. My OH knows when a product is to be tested and, even though it may be a product she would not normally choose for herself, she will always test it full and give an objective opinion on its performance.
I would be happy to help. Its nice to be able to give a bit back for some of the lovely items we have received.
How long have you been doing this?
Roughly around a year
How did you get this job?
After reviewing a number of purchases and regularly posting on the forums about being willing to test I was finally given a chance.
What do you like most about your job?
What is not to like? I/we love trying out new things. We have even received items we would never of looked at and are now part of our regular sessions.(Thank you)
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
The only thing I sometimes struggle with are knowing the deadlines. Maybe in the emails you could put the deadline in bold?
How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?
Feedback is always given in a very honest way. We have had products which have not really done it for us but that is normally a personal preference. I always try to have a regular format for reviews starting with delivery, packaging, quality of the item, ease of use and finally functionality.
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
My partner does know we receive test items and is always happy to dive in. Even when we purchase items we always talk about them after use so this is just writing a review of what we talked about.
1. How long have you been doing this?
Nearly 10 years now. I started in my first year of university.
2. How did you get this job?
Bought some products, reviewed them, did it through the old tester list way back when, got a review of the month when that was also still a thing, seemed to be trusted with some of the more expensive testers.
3. What do you like most about your job?
It’s nice to often get a shot at things you wouldn’t normally buy because you can give an objective and unbiased review. Some things I’d never try, I get a tester, I like it, I buy things in a similar vein and am open to new ideas.
4. Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
Can be some looooong droughts on when you actually receive a tester because it’s simply grown more popular with time I think. Can’t complain too much though because a freebie is a freebie
5. How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?
I try to go step by step through everything that could go right or wrong with it. In a normal review I try to find the little things that people might not think of and be conscious for peoples living situations, varying anatomies etc. Ultimately you’re writing a review not to say you personally loved it but to inform any other shoppers who might want to buy it and aren’t sure.
6. When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
I’ve had play partners act really professional about it like a serious business job, and I’ve had others treat it like a flirty bit of fun. I’ve also had some people just not care at all which is fair enough, not everyone wants to play guinea pig sometimes
I’ve actually been trying for many years but actively chosen in the last year.
How did you get this job?
Through purchasing and reviewing products that were approved and then being selected for items I have requested to try.
What do you like most about your job?
Trying out things I ordinarily wouldn’t get the chance to. I’m still working out what I do and don’t like and have purchased so many sex toys over the years that haven’t worked so it’s nice to finally get to try things I wouldn’t usually consider.
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
Nothing is more dissapointing than getting your period when you’re due to test. But that’s a personal preference thing.
How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?
It depends on the assignment as some are secret and others are open. You’re given instructions to follow. Once it’s public I also like to share my great experiences with friends.
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
Absolutely, they are as positive and excited as me. They get the benefit and enjoyment just as much as I do!
How long have you been doing this?
Must be a good 5+ years
How did you get this job?
Bought some products and thought id post a few reviews, applied to a few posts and was chosen to test a few items.
What do you like most about your job?
Trying new things i may not generally buy myself as i may not be sure about an item.
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
Theres alot of items im not the best choice for.
How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it? I start with general information about the design and materials, move onto the sensations and feel/fit, any opinions or possible issues and what i liked/disliked.
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
They love having something new to experience, i will ask for their opinions and feedback to be included in my review
How long have you been doing this?
Since July 2021 so approximately 2.5 years now
How did you get this job?
After many purchases and numerous reviews i applied and was eventually accepted as a tester.
What do you like most about your job?
Ability to test and review items that i may not necessarily have purchased usually
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
Not really, but more toy testing would be preferred over the lingerie if possible
How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?
Via a private link which takes you to the page to review the item received which is then subsequently uploaded to the relevant page (assuming it isnt a secret test item)
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
She is my long term (suffering) partner so regarless of what we are selected to test and review we both are able to test and review honestly.
How long have you been doing this?
Hard to remember the exact start but feels like I’ve been doing it for 3-5 years
How did you get this job?
Found the forums and started reviewing the items I bought and luckily started getting selected to review items both existing listings and some prototypes LH were working on.
What do you like most about your job?
Getting items that I may not have necessarily bought myself and being able to provide an input from a completely new point of view
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
The waste of a product if it isnt going to be used once its been tested.
How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?
I create an opinion based how the toys feel, its intended use, its powered functions (vibrations, patterns, power, Bluetooth abilities), how the toy performed in use and then how the cleaning process went.
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
My partner is keen to try new things, so usually I tell her there is a testing item coming but not what it actually is to surprise her when we go to test it. Her reaction helps form an opinion on the product as well.
How long have you been doing this?
About a year I think
How did you get this job?
I started off my purchasing and reviewing items from the site, then joined the forum. I waited a while so I sort of knew what I was doing and then just applied
What do you like most about your job?
I absolutely love receiving the email asking if I’m still interested in reviewing the applied for item, then the excitement of waiting for the postman to deliver it and finally the joy of getting it open and getting down to testing it. Giving feedback on improvements I think prototypes should have is also a highlight knowing I may have helped other people in their enjoyment.
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
The worst part for me is rushing my write up. I work shifts and sometimes lose track of the days forcing me to rush a review.
5.How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?
I try to be as honest as possible.
I usually start with what the experience was like receiving the product, the packaging, the look and feel of the item and such like. Then go onto the function of said item, my user experience ( this is where I usually mention a description of myself)
Then lastly I give a summary and wether it needs to be improved in some way, any small niggles I had with it the best part and if I would buy it again
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
Unfortunately I’m a solo tester as my partner has no interest in being involved, that much so I no longer mention when I am testing a product
How did you get this job? We have been buying from LH for years and just started writing reviews for the products. We then started to get chosen to test products.
What do you like most about your job? You get to test a range of toys and it expands your views. If it’s something you wouldn’t have normally bought it can be very interesting. Testing pre-production items is also great as you get to see what is coming to market.
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester? Absolutely not! It’s a privilege to be chosen and you get to try new stuff.
How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it? We normally have a good look at the product (packaging, first view, what comes with it etc) and then test it a few times in different scenarios to make sure we give an honest and open review. I try to write in a standard format which I have developed over the years which covers the things I would want to know about.
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react? Both my wife and I write reviews under a shared username. When we get chosen for a test we both know and can’t wait for it to arrive. Its great fun and exciting to try new things.
We have attached the answers about our experience below:
How long have you been doing this?
We have been members of the Lovehoney Forum since February 2021. We are a couple who both use the same UKlovingcouple account.
How did you get this job?
Our first few reviews were for the Lovehoney Regular Testers, which was very exciting opportunity as it was our first opportunity to receive and test products, which was made even more exciting by them being Lovehoney products! We had both been purchasing sex toys for about 5 years before we found out that we could become testers at Lovehoney and as soon as we did we registered our account
What do you like most about your job?
For us, it has been lovely over the past few years to be sex toy testers as a couple! We both decide which products we would like to be considered for, we then test the products (either both of us testing it if it’s a couple’s product or taking turns to test an individual sex toy ourselves while we enjoy watching the other test it). We then (this could just be us haha) really enjoy going through the process of writing up the review, making sure that it is detailed, clear and an accurate and honest description of the product and our genuine personal opinion of it, so we genuinely love the whole sex toy tester process from start to finish!
Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?
A couple of times we have been selected to test products that are being developed so they don’t yet have the formal instructions or even the final design of the box. In those cases we have had to chase up with Brenna at Lovehoney to ask if she can source any details if we have questions about how to use or setup the sex toy. Brenna always gets back to us very quickly with the answers we’re looking for, so this isn’t really a bad thing at all but it can be quite tricky working out exactly what some of these sex toys should be doing and how they should fit
How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?
It normally takes us about 1 to 2 hours to write up the review and that would be after testing the sex toy a decent number of times. We always make sure to describe every aspect of the sex toy, from the material to the instructions to the design to the functions and (if applicable) whether it made us orgasm (or not quite). We really appreciate the opportunity from Lovehoney to consider us to be sex toy testers so in return we really value making sure that we do really thorough testing and spend a decent amount of time writing a detailed and honest review.
When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?
As we are both members of the Lovehoney forum using the same account we both know that we are testing a product, so yes we do both know that it’s a test, but we find that is more useful as from the start (and at every stage) we are making sure to properly evaluate the product and making notes to include in our reviews.
