Shoes for French maid outfit

I'm about to order a french maid outfit from LH which I'm hoping will be fairly classy. I'm not sure what shoes to get to go with it though. Plain black courts with 4" heels is my best guess so far (that'll be fun as I haven't done heels that high in earnest for over 20 years)

Being a man, I'll have to get size 10 shoes so any ideas on what's available and what will go well would be appreciated.

Classy black patient court shoes, think banana shoes go up to your size, you can find then on line.

I'm another vote for Mary Janes, but a court shoe like this might work: http://www.after8shoes.co.uk/higher-heels/xerrie--smart-court/c-xerrie-black/

If not, you might like to browse around the site as they do only size 8+ (they're based here in Bath but they seem to do delivery).

£79 !!! £79!!!!

Now theres exploitation if ever I saw it !!!!

eBay for a pair of patent black mary janes, you could pick up 1001 different pairs for a fraction of that money....

So you didn't follow the top link, then, Tanya - £150. But absolutely divine. A bit pricey for a one-night job, though!

Thanks for all the suggestion - keep 'em coming if you have more; I like the way it's going and the after 8 site is very nice - if I wore girls' shoes more often I'd be looking very closely at some of theirs.

I'm not sure if I'm imagining this, but my recollection of heels when I did some serious practice in them all that time ago was that I got on better with 4" heels than with 2" heels. My hazy recollection is that I kept slipping down into the lower heels whereas in the 4" heels my foot made a platform of sorts that stopped that happening. I do remember I practised for weeks and then wore them all night at the party I got them for; I drove in them, too.

Black patent shoes are a must for me, i am also a size 10 the last couple of pairs i purchased were off e-bay.

Hella, those are nice shoes but I'm going to pass on platforms as I'm tall enough already. I'm even thinking of going for a 3" instead of a 4" heel and if all else fails I can wear my ankle boots with 3" heel that look wonderful as they're only a size 9 and I can barely get into them. Exquisite torture!

Mary Janes or something along those lines does seem to be the way to go, though.

Mr P if you find your feet slipping or you are really out of practice in heels try something like this

I bought some own brand ones from superdrug for a lot less

Swear by them

Ghostgirl,

I always wondered of those are any good - perhaps I'll try some. I think it's mainly walking practice I need, though; haven't worn heels out of the bedroom for a long, long time!

I live in heels, and have one foot 1/2 a size smaller than the other. These were a revelation along with the gel heel grips. Practice is a must though, nothing worse than falling over on heels and making a complete plonker of yourself in public

I also recommend Ebay, you can find all manner of things on there for a fraction of the price else where. I know you were looking for something with a smaller heel but these look very nice http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ladies-5-Stiletto-Black-Patent-Court-Shoes-Size-UK-10-/110672060773?pt=UK_Women_s_Shoes&var=&hash=item5f7761e15a

Simple but do the job, will also be able to be worn with other outfits too. Always thinking ahead :D

I think I'm going to go for a fairly plain black court, possibly with ankle strap, no platform and 3.5 to 4" heel. Don't want to be too tall, and keeping it plain will make the shoes more fexible, even if I don't have another project in mind at the moment.
