Sildenafil aka Viagra

Tried viagra connect wife said I was too hard and not flexible ( she has a tilted cervix ) so gave tadafil a go works well for us I’m hard and I don’t have to take it every time we want sex as it lasts a couple of days . I guess I’m lucky as I don’t get the headache etc . I did get one with priligy (for premature ejaculation) but now that’s sorted ( didn’t take both at the same time as that is a big no no) got pe sorted first on docs advice .

I know I need to see the doctor but as a 59 year old I feel embarrassed that I am asking for help with ED. At my age should sex be important, should I be more interested in gardening / playing bowls.

In a word, NO!
See the doctor and get some help, 59 is relatively young nowadays.

Thanks @WillC at times I feel a lot older in body. Unfortunately my mind still thinks I’m 30.

I’m 70 next birthday and I have sildanafil on prescription and I buy online too as we have sex 3 or 4 times a week. I was prescribed it following a diagnosis of low testosterone.
Sex is important for both of us following her diagnosis with Parkinsons some 5 years ago. It helps us to prove that the diagnosis is not changing our lives in a material way. In fact our sex life has come on in leaps and bounds following our determination to prioritise it.

Don’t take up bowls yet. Stick with sex.

Thank you for the support. I need to get it sorted. I’ll give myself a good talking to. @rockstar

Tadafil doesn’t work for me at the normal 10mg dose. If I take a 20mg tablet it works fine but I’m dizzy initially then I get a headache as it wears off but, as you say, it does last for a long time.

Me, too…mentally 17, physically 57!

I’m 65yrs old and have used both Viagra and Sildenafil, I found that Viagra was just a bit better from me. My erection was harder and lasted longer, which pleased me and my wife. Usually my wife knows I’ve taken one, as my face is a bit flushed. I sometimes have a headache the next morning on awaking but I can cope with that after a sexy session the night before. And yes, you need sexual stimulation before the tablet works but “it” soon rises to attention…

Viagra is the same as sildenafil. It’s just a trade name. Sildenafil is the generic name for the same drug.

Alternatives are

Cialis, the trade name for Tadalafil.

Levitra

Spedra

I’ve been taking Sildenafil for a while, after it was changed to this cheaper version of Viagra. I am 63, type 2 diabetes. For a while now, I find that it isn’t working for me. When I do get an erection, it’s not very firm and does not last long. I’m aware that many things can contribute to ED, stress, tiredness, alcohol, but I wonder if there’s another problem. Sildenafil is the same thing as Viagra, right, just a cheaper version not held back by brand name restrictions. I’ve noticed I don’t get ‘excited’ easily or as often as I normally would. I do also take Sertraline for MH problems. Is it worth my trying another brand, buying Viagra, or should I consult my doc. I realise my age may have something to do with it. Any help or advise anyone can offer will be much appreciated.

@Blottson I don’t know anything about Viagra / Sildenafil but, if Sildenafil is the generic version of Viagra, it will be exactly the same drug, just in different packaging. There would be absolutely no point in buying the branded version, it would just be more expensive.

Sertraline is one of the worst SSRI medications for reduced sex drive and other sexual problems. If you need to be on it and it’s helping your mental health then you might have to prioritise that for now but it might be worth discussing this with your GP to see if you can reduce your dose (if you’re ready to do this) or possibly try a different antidepressant that has less effect on your libido (if you do a bit of research, there are other antidepressants that are better in this respect but obviously there might be other side effects to consider). Talk to your GP, get some expert advice and see what can be done. Good luck x

Exactly.

Viagra is the trade name for Sildanafil. It is exactly the same drug and just as effective but significantly cheaper if you buy it as Sildanafil.

I’d certainly consult your Doctor. Better safe than sorry

My OH was on Setraline and it really impacted his sex drive and ability to ejaculate which made his MH worse. I also felt the tablets totally numbed him of all of his emotions. Under the guidance of his GP he weaned himself off it and is feeling much better and everything has gone back to normal. He used some of my testosterone recently and felt better for it, but after blood tests the GP said his levels were normal for his age (he waited a month before the test). Since then we’ve had more sex than we have in a years and his testosterone has increased!

It’s frustrating as women’s symptoms for menopause are being treated rather than blood tests results. Yet for men you can only get TRT based on blood test results here in the UK. I understand in the US they are treating symptoms and therefore testosterone is easier to obtain.

Thank you for your reply. It all helps. And I certainly wasn’t aware of lots of the things people have replied.

On all types of branded and non-branded pills, there is a code on the box, this code means that any product with that exact code on wether branded or not, is exactly the same formula.
