Sounds like you could have sleep apnoea if you're breathing is actually disrupted
I would recommend a trip to your GP

First thing is to determine whether you have Sleepapnia, as far as im aware its caused by a shortage of Oxygen when sleeping, it causes you to marginally loose conciousness when your asleep. A simple test can be carried out, it can cause snoring.
If your OH says you are almost stopping breathing then i would suggest having the sleep test to measure your oxygen levels.
Ive had the test, my levels were fine.
Secondly, are you a nose or throat snorer, if you have a larger neck then you will more than likely be a throat snorer, the vibrations of the throat tissue causing the snoring sounds.
Nasal snoring can be prevented by using nasal strips.
Suggestions - More exercise and loosing weight are possible 2 factors to consider.
Thirdly - Get her some earpluggs!
I snore really bad due to suffering from congestion problems and asthma. As my hubby is a light sleeper we now sleep in seprate beds. good luck to you Iwish i hope you caan solve your problem out.
Ear plugs are a god send. They're a bit uncomfortable at first when you're not used to them but after a few nights with them in she won't even notice they're there.
They were a life saver when I was living with noisy housemates last year!
A trip to your GP would still be good though to check out the sleep apnoea thing.
