I’m very new to anal stimulation and play. I don’t have a partner right now but I want to explore this on my own. I have only played very lightly with coconut oil on the outside around and it is very pleasing.
I need advice on how to proceed. There are so many options, butt plugs, vibrating plugs, anal beads of all kinds…i don’t know where to go next.

Hi @MidwestChic just take your time in doing it on own because you’ll know just by yourself how nice it feels. I use baby oil and it feels lovely. Im not sure how you would proceed but maybe start off with small plugs and beers and go from there. Enjoy playing. Keep us informed on what you like.

We both got into it by using fingers! I know it’s not everybodys cup of tea to finger their own bum but it’s probably the best and easiest way to know. You can control your finger alot more than a toy in the sense of how much pressure and position of your finger!
But if a finger isn’t the way to go for yourself i’d definitely say about some slim anal beads. Or maybe a small prostate vibrator! I know their made for men but they can be small and un-intimadating (if that’s how you spell it 
). Honestly give it a go and explore yourself, my wife hated it when we got together and then had the chat about “if i try it then you have to too!” Now we both love it!

There is no right or wrong answer to what you should try next. Have a look on the site and see what takes your fancy. Only choose toys from the anal section though and make sure they have a flared based or a firm finger loop. If possible, maybe buy a couple of different toys to experiment with different sensations.
Take things slow and use plenty of lube. Coconut oil will be fine with silicone, metal, glass and hard/abs plastic toys.
In terms of beads or plug, plugs are more of a static toy, designed to be inserted and left in (obviously you can pull them in and out as you wish). Beads on the other hand are designed to be inserted and removed at the point of orgasm to increase the sensations (although, you can just insert and leave in if you prefer).
If you choose a vibrating toy, that can be good for some external anal play as well as insertion. It might sound obvious but you also don’t have to turn the vibration on if you don’t want to (or if you want to insert and get used to the feeling for a bit then turn the vibration on).

Apologies for being obvious, but im just going to chip in and say if your going with a toy, start small. Make sure you read the sizes in the listing. A circumference of 3.5” or less is a good starting point. Silicon is probably a slightly gentler starting point, glass and metal are more intense due to the lack of flexibility in the material and take a little adjusting to (though my first anal toy was glass so if you really like the idea of them, you can just go for it).
There is a guide to anal toys somewhere on the website too. And some very good you tube vids that i found helpful when i was starting.
Also, as everyone has very wisely said, you can never have too much lube. Hybrid lubes are my go to for butt plugs personally or sliquids excellent gel.

There are a load of toys to suit everyone’s personal preference so it can seem a minefield if you don’t know what you like. I’d suggest keeping it simple with some anal beads or small dildo and see how you get on
Are you talking about 3.5cm or do you mean circumference? 3.5" diameter is a pretty huge plug.
I would personally suggest starting with a small butt plug. Lovehoneys own brand or nexus are my favourite. Plugs allow you to get use to the sensation without to much stimulating or thrusting with can be overwhelming when beginning. Wait until your really comfortable and change for a medium. I find that in-between upping a size , that he helps wearing the small plug for a hour and two and then putting the medium in. Have a bath before hand and relax. It won’t happen overnight so don’t push yourself.

I would suggest fingers and then a small vibrating plug for the best area to start, personal experience I find toys that vibrate help relax for easier insertion. If you decide to go down the vibration route look for a remote or app controlled toy. You’ll end up wanting one in the end (oo-er!) so you may as well treat yourself first as last.
Find a shape that fits you well with a plug then find the vibe version close to it. Most of all, have fun on the way.
