I have a small collection of regular sounds from 6mm up to 10mm, a ribbed 8mm and an 8mm rosebud sound, but have only managed to get up to 8mm diameter inserted. I would like to get the 9 and 10 inserted, but then I also like the aesthetic of my penis and so don’t want to alter that with any permanency.
I originally got into it thinking that it might help the elimination of kidney stones (with a wider urethra). Fortunately I’ve not had any further stones, but the sounding is pleasurable enough with the proper precautions to prevent UTIs.

I’m AFAB, if that makes a difference. I got into it recently. Started with some stuff made for the purpose, but now I prefer a finger. Granted, I’m wired a little differently in there. My intersex anatomy is kind of unique, and I find urethral penetration REALLY pleasurable.
Downside is UTIs. Although I think I may have gotten it from having the opening licked a lot, rather than having something up there.

In my experience, going from 8 to 10 mm wouldn’t change the aesthetic. I don’t know about larger than that in diameter.

Good to know…! I know it’s only 2mm but it took me a while to get an 8mm in comfortably. I probably just have to practice more, but atm we lock up more than insert things (although both are very pleasurable).
I also really enjoy sounding but I probably don’t do it as often as I’d like just because of going through sterilizing everything to minimize possibility of UTI. The feeling is really unique and pleasurable though! It is definitely a bit more of a niche kink right now, which may be due in large part to the idea of ‘sounding’ sounding off-putting to anyone that has not experience it before.
My first (and only sound so far) is this one from LH. I was a bit worried with it being my first, at 8mm diameter and ribbed but it ended up being fine for me going slow with plenty of sterile lube. Also I like the weighty stainless steel as I feel it helps the sound slide in slowly, compared to how silicone may be which you may need to push in more.
I started at 6mm then practiced until I comfortably accommodate 8mm which felt so good when sliding in using gravity. I’m still practicing with 10mm but even though I can get it in with lube and a gentle push, it’s still not comfortable. I think at 10mm I’ve found my limit.
Incidentally I both practice alone and get ‘help’ from my wife, who enjoys ‘fitting me up’
