Sounding

I’m really curious about urethral sounding..
Twice I woke up in a hospital situation with a catheter in me..
Both time when they pulled it out I shuddered and felt sensation..
I bought a gland ring with a urethral plug on it and I have worn it times but from what im told by a couple sounders is that the plug does notgo in deep enough for the pleasure people talk about getting from a sounding device..
Has anyone experienced this And was it gratifying as regular sounders make it sound??

As a woman I have seen it done but looks painful - but I appreciate where there is pain is also pleasure

I suggest to try it …. You may love it

I’ve had nurses put those stick things down my pee hole (technical terms, I know) as part of STI tests, and I’m firmly in the camp of that it’s not for me.

There’s absolutely no pain if you do it correctly, it just glides in and feels nice. Great if your being wanked off whilst it’s in

In the past I have used Hagar sounds which are long enough to reach as far as the prostate and, while I really enjoyed the sensation, I kept getting UTIs so I gave up.

I was using sterilised equipment and sterile lubricant too.

I’ve never done sounding but I have heard that it can be really dangerous if it’s done incorrectly, so please research this like crazy before giving it a go!

I have indeed tried sounding and can definitely say there is something pleasing there to it!
I’d recommend getting the metal rods over the silicone ones and use sterile lube

Solid or hollow??
I’m under the impression that hollow would be the least troublesome because you can urinate and enjaculate without removing it.,
I’m thinking that a person would risk getting UTI’s from constantly removing the sounding device to urinate and then putting them back in place after doing your business..

How do you get the inside of your urethra lubricated down deep..?

You can start by using a syringe if you want but if you keep applying lube as you slide the sound in and out it will gradually work its way down.

Others have hit on the main points, importance of sterilization, etc., I am another vote for yes to sounding! Very unique and pleasurable sensation. I prefer stainless steel sounds too especially for starting, the weight can help it slowly go in with no pain if done properly. Very slight sting when first peeing afterwards is all I’ve had to deal with luckily!

LH discontinued this one it seems but here’s one of my review of a stainless steel sound if you’re interested! My Reviews - #785 by MattWillTry

I love it. My wife sounds me regularly and it’s amazing.
Probably had the most intense orgasm of my life whilst being sounded.

Regardless of solid or hollow, I always urinate after a sounding session to reduce the risk of UTIs, and so far have had no issues. Although for some reason the hollow sounds feel “shaper” than the solid ones so I use the solids predominantly.

I’ve not used sounds but I a woman with medical kink who loves steel toys/speculum play, I would suggest using gloves as well. You want things to be as clean as possible, and maybe a bit more.

Also have a look at your lube. If it contains glycerin, that could be the culprit to your UTIs. Good luck and have fun

Depends wether you’d be wanting to wear them all day or just use while playing cause there is some cock cages what come with sounding components and they tend to have holes in them so you can urinate without taking the cage off.

From my experience with sounding rods alone they naturally get pushed out when you insert them so would need something to keep them in place should you wish to wear them long term.

But sterile lube is what you’ll need regardless to minimise any chance of infections.

I’ve had the idea of sounding in the back of my mind for a while

I think it might be time to search around the forum to get some advise and tips and go for it!!

There’s no pain and if there is, you’re doing it wrong or have an obstruction.

However I’d still suggest great caution. I’ve watched people in porn be quite rough, fast and apparently completely skip any sterilization. Its your body and you have to live with it afterwards.

I’m likely going to go OTT on cleanliness and caution in the following paragraphs but if I didn’t enjoy sounding, I wouldn’t go to all this bother. Its not an intense sensation and won’t be for everyone but I find it pleasant and unusual, and strangely satisfying on its own. And I enjoy it more when I know I’m safe.

.

Your urethra is extremely sensitive to rough handling and scars easily which can put you in hospital ( my sounding adventure actually started after a GP-ignored-UTI resulted in near uro-sepsis and scar tissue that required surgery and a catheter .. like you .. the catheter being removed was the catalyst ), so you want to pick the material and shape wisely. Wide, round tip, smooth material.

I’ve got a bunch of sounds and would always recommend surgical steel over black silicone. ( The Steel code is 316L - its more resistant to rust than regular stainless steel and is less porous ).
The silicone, no matter how well lubed, always feels a little rough. They’re not like the shiny smooth silicone of catheters, they’re quite matt and so rub, pull, irritate and don’t hold the lube well. I even had one that had the company logo embossed at the insertable end! However their flexibility IS a big advantage so if you can get hold of actual medical grade catheters then that might be an option.

Size wise, I think most people would start with a 6 or 7mm. I’d buy a few around that size and test. Tight can feel good but make manouvering difficult. Too thin can act like a needle, so 4mm and less is probably too dangerous. Don’t try and force something you can’t accomodate. Your urethra isn’t really stretchy in the way most of our muscular orifices are.

Most sounds you’ll buy are straight or have a graduated diameter and gentle bend. The male urethra however is NOT straight at all beyond the base of the penis so without a properly shaped sound ( such as the Guyon or Van Buron ), a lot of experience and care you’re unlikely to reach your prostate with a metal sound.

( Having said that, I’ve seen doctors perform cystoscopies to the bladder with straight metal tools but the patients were clearly in a lot of distress so I really would avoid that. )

Before use I wash them in a tea tree based liquid soap, then boil them for a good few minutes, then throw in enough cold water so it doesn’t scald, and wash off the soap. Before each of these stages you need to be washing your hands regularly and wash your penis before insertion. Surgical gloves are an option provided you change them regularly.

Lube will either be rubbed all over the sound or inserted using a sterile syringe. Both work. The lube I use ( NHS standard for cathetarization ) is of a consistency that really sticks well to the steel rather than running off. I think this helps smooth insertion and spreading it down.

Pulling your penis away from your body at varying angles can help the sound progress. Be gentle. Never force it. Use either the weight of the sound itself or the very slightest of finger weight/pressure. If its a shaped sound you will often feel it rotate of its own accord. Let it do its thing.
You can have a natural tightening of the urethra at just about the frenulum level. Take that gently at first. It can help to wiggle the sound a little or start with a smaller one just to get a feel for it.

After use, the sounds are washed with regular soap and water, dried with a clean towel and stored away from all other toys. UTI’s are not something to trifle with so take as many precautions as you can. I don’t know where you are but being in the UK, our tap water is usually fairly safe. You may have to take further precautions.

LH sells their own brand of sterilized lube and you can buy the one used by most UK hospitals on a certain huge online shop.

Check out some anatomy books, I find MRI scans or cadaver cross sections are more accurate and useful. Diagrams are often drawn for clarity rather than accuracy. You’ll be subtly different but it’ll give you an idea of what to expect. ( A great example of this is the ovaries and fallopian tubes. We’re all used to diagrams showing them spread out in a T shape. They’re not like that at all )

Try to pee shortly after to start to flush away any remaining lube and possible bacteria. I also tend to drink a lot for the rest of the day so I pee more.

Confidence and understanding of your own body comes with time and experience, but don’t get over confident. Assume there is always risk and mitigate it as much as possible.

Check out rosebud urethral sounds. They definitely have different feel than some of the other rods and probes.
