Splashproof versus waterproof

What exactly does it mean if a toy is only splashproof? I know you can't submerse it under water but can you run it under the tap?

Hey AliMc,

The meaning of 'splashproof' is that it can be wiped clean, but not submerged.

So it's ok to give it a good clean with a damp cloth, but not to place it in a bowl of water!

Hope this explains everything :)

Thanks for the quick reply! I was confused as I have read a review for a toy that was splashproof where the reviewer had said it's safe to use in the bath.

Unless the manufacturer says that it's 100% we don't recommend using it in water. That doesn't stop people trying though! x

I had to rescue the vibrator from the gooey mess that was supposed to be a “clone a willy” and despite the fact that whilst scrubbing of the nasty gloop I dropped it in the sink and it filled with water (complete with battery inside) shook the water out, left it to dry and it is still working perfectly well now something like 2 months later at least despite the fact it isn’t even meant to be splash proof. It’s amazing!
