Spreader bar vs under bed restraints

Ok is a spreader bar really that different from under bed restraints? In particular for keeping legs open during play? Not attaching the hands etc.

I know they can go in different positions but just wondering the feel of the restraint vs under the bed for legs.

Thank you x

Both have their uses.

A spreader bar on its own still allows movement as the person can lift their legs up and down.

The bed restraint keeps your legs apart but also really restricts movement depending on how tight they are.

We also combine both and use a spreader bar and attach the cuffs to the bed restraint as that really limits any movement.

Both have their place. Personally, I find Spreader Bars more fun. You can be more creative, and I find having a piece of equipment that the primary purpose is to make your pussy available feels very kinky.

I like both but as said already the spreader bar lets you lift your legs and get into different positions without letting you close your legs.

I think for a spreader bar to be comparable to under mattress restraints, it needs to be fairly long. I’m fat, so my legs need to be opened wide for ‘access’ and if the spreader bar is short, it is pretty useless. So size matters

Thank you. I am smaller but I’m tall too so I feel like a longer one would be better

Thank you I might try that

We have our spreader bar attached to the under bed restraints. It keeps my legs fully bound. I cant move them at all. Thinking of buying a second to be attached to the top part now aswell for my wrists

There are different lengths of bars, mone was a tester and its great for what it is, but I’d really like it proper wide. Bear in mind the ankle attachments will give you some movement so you’d need to take off the length of its connection to the bar, off the total length, and see if thats long enough for you.

I think they serve different roles, but a bar is a little more versatile, especially if you get an adjustable one. It also allows the restrained to be flipped over or back and forth, and is a great handle for holding legs and feet up (for us, instead of a classic “her feet over my shoulders” position, with the bar I can lift her legs in the air and the bar hits straight across my chest to lean into and keep her legs up in the air and supported for longer).

For us it’s also more reliable at actually keeping legs open. With our king bed, the length of the straps just doesn’t do a good enough job at a spreading restraint. Something about the dimensions is just that if I have the straps coming around the sides of the bed to the ankles it doesn’t provide the tension I want for the wrists over her head.

Anyway: love both, but they serve different purposes.

For me the spread bar is better for fun as allows both anal and vaginal penetration and great for spanking and overall fun

Never tried one but reading the comments a spreader bar sounds good

As others have said they’re different, but there’s something else that I haven’t seen mentioned yet on this thread, when combining the two: not just the physical element of being really firmly bound, but also the psychological component. You can’t close your legs, you can’t raise them, you’re well and truly stuck

Oh yes, totally psychological. Once, he handcuffed my wrist spreader bar to the headboard, then lifted my ankles spreader bar up and did the same. I was wonderfully exposed, almost uncomfortably wide and totally helpless and at his mercy. It was wonderful.

Yes I agree. Our bed is queen but I can close my knees pretty easy in the under bed restraints even when tight. Seems weird and doesn’t provide the feeling I’m after.

How did you attach the ankle spreader to the headboard please?

@sarahlo8383

I hope you and your partner find time to experiment with both types as they are equally fun to use and as it’s already been mentioned both have different roles. Bars can be more restrictive than restraints and restraints can be more supportive than restrictive, with I will explain at the end.

Using both together can give you the best of both and a open wood/metal bed frame can help increase the options of from where the implements of pleasure come from, it doesn’t just need to be the side and the straps can be crossed above the head. Same for the feet so they are more bound instead of spread.

Also with trust incorporating blindfolds and sensory play can add a dimension not often touched on.

There is another factor not mentioned yet and that is, these can be used for help with mobility while you play, either short or long term. They allow pressure to be taken off muscle groups or joints if after any length of time you find something getting painful but want to carry on with your fun and they become support restraints instead.

Mrs W here … Wow, must try a couple of the spreader bars on wrists and ankles, so much undefended access would make me juice up quicker than usual …

@sarahlo8383 We have a headboard with vertical wooden poles, so we secure with 3 sets of handcuffs (their insides are cushioned to protect the headboard). One at each end of the spreader bar, stretched as wide as possible to restrict lateral movement and one over the base bar of the headboard restricting vertical movement.
