Stains from using lube!

I come to make the bed with fresh sheets at the weekend and found that the base sheet still had lube stains on it from masturbating in bed even after washing it at a high temperature and so did a pair of grey boxers (not so bothered about as it isn’t as obvious and they’re only for masturbation).

Hoping for some advice on any lubes that won’t stain bedding and clothes and anyone who’s had a similar problem to this as it’s pretty visible to everyone when been hung to dry :see_no_evil_monkey: what it is!

In bed, under the covers is the only place I can properly relax to masturbate, so doing it and using lube away from the sheets isn’t really an option unfortunately

Was the lube water-based or Silicone? I’ve found Silicone can leave marks if it’s not washed on a higher temperature with something like Vanish

@Stacy2 it was silicone, it got on the sheets late Friday night and they were boiled first thing Saturday morning along with boxers - only seems to have properly stained the sheet though for some reason?!

Could be the material but a quick google search gives a bit more;

Silicone-based lubricant is notorious for staining bedding because it is water-resistant, allowing it to penetrate fabric fibers and resist conventional washing. These stains often appear as dark, greasy spots that do not wash out easily and can be set permanently if dried with high heat.

My suggestion would be using a Water-based lube, unless you have a spare towel or waterproof blanket

@Stacy2 water based it is or nothing moving forward I think. With still living at home I don’t want to draw attention to the fact with a towel or waterproof blanket hence to the grey boxers for discreetness. Thank you for your suggestions

We used silicone based lube in the past and yes it’s very good and long lasting but we were not able to remove stains from bedsheets

We only ever use Liquid Silk and never had any staining issues.

Water based lube generally shouldn’t stain anything… whereas silicone lube can be resistant and might leave some marks on certain fabrics!

Key Methods for Silicone Stains

  • Degreaser/Dish Soap: Apply directly to the stain, work into the fabric, and let sit for 10-15 minutes.

  • Isopropyl Alcohol (Rubbing Alcohol): Blot the stained area with alcohol to break down silicone molecules.

  • Baking Soda Paste: Combine baking soda and water to form a paste, apply to the stain, and allow to sit for 20 minutes to overnight to lift residue.

  • Specialty Cleaners: Products such as De-Solv-It or a specialized enzyme-based cleaner can effectively break down silicone.

  • Pre-treatment with Lubricant Cleaner: If the stain is from sex lube, use a dedicated adult-toy cleaner to break it down before washing.

Tips for Success

  • Use Hot Water: Launder with high-temperature water to help release the oil from the fibers.

  • Avoid Spreading: Blot, do not scrub, when first treating, to prevent the stain from spreading.

  • Check Before Drying: Ensure the stain is completely gone before placing in a dryer, as heat can set any remaining residue.

  • Dry Cleaning: For delicate bedding materials that cannot be washed in hot water, consider professional dry cleaning.

I don’t know what colour bedding you have but the baking soda one has worked for me on white and light pink sheets

@JGood thanks for the tips and suggestions - they are light grey! So not an ideal colour when masturbating for showing stains etc

@AJSTAR i think I’ve learnt the hard way :man_facepalming: could be an awkward conversation when they’re hanging out to dry. Haven’t got any lube at the minute but will look at water based for the next. It’s just so annoying the grey boxers haven’t stained, but the sheets have - you’d think it would be the other way around.

@batjamboree this is why I opted for it and save having to keep stop and starting to reapply - however it’s left me in a situation this time :joy:

Maybe the boxers and sheets are of different fabric combinations?
