Stretching and flexibility

Guys and gals, does anyone regularly stretch and exercise specifically for the purpose of being more flexible for sexual activity, either with someone or solo (both the stretching and the sex)? If so, are there any specific stretches that you find give most benefit, and how?

Yes, I do so to try and elongate the look of my otherwise short legs. Oh ok, I also try to be more flexible in order to self fellate, but it never works, my torso is too long. Damn my awkward dimensions! I'd have settled for longer legs and shorter body.

I do strech but I can't say is for sexual purposes. But every time I find myself able to put my legs however it's requiered for any sexual position and feeling comfortable, I can't avoid thanking my stretching efforts. I'm 49 and at my age joints and muscles get stiff. I recommend strething your inner tights, the back of your legs, the muscles of the hips and the lower back.

Also Yoga exercises or Pilates have quite a lot of sexual side benefits (flexibility, strength and stamina)

Pilates is very good for for core strength and keeping your mobility

I said it in another post/thread. Yoga, physio and ciropractor keep me nimble.

I'm slowly getting to be able to do the splits almost entirely for this purpose, but otherwise I just adore stretching. Yoga is great, both for flexibility and meditation, both of which I would say benefit sex greatly. Acrobatic yoga with a partner can be a lot of fun also, you can do it in bed in the mornings to wake up or out and about to appreciate nature and your bodies. Great for building trust and strength. There are plenty examples on instagram and youtube. I have hyper-extension myself, so flexibilty has never been an issue, but the splits are a definite goal. Good luck with whatever your goals are! ![heart|20x20](upload://4WyQT1gwKaQJNwhYxrKZ1rOPglF.gif "heart")

Thanks all for the guideance. I think I'm going to explore yoga, I like the idea of stretching and meditation in one, definitely in need of some inner peace right about now. Would I be best going to a class, or is this something I can do at home with a good book or video course?

Aw I hope you're doing okay. Working on yourself is no bad thing! Classes can be a little pricey depending on where you are, so it might be worth watching some videos first to see how you get on with it then shop around for some classes. In some cities they do morning yoga practice in the park. Lovely way to connect back to nature. Keep us updated, I hope it helps!

I'd actually recommend doing it a home, if you feel comfortable doing so (and have enough stick-to-it-ness). Because in a class there's more distraction, possibly competiton, and yoga is all about doing what YOU can do.

And the way I see it, an instructor can never look closely at all students at the same time to see what they are doing and correct you in time to avoid injury, anyway.

There's loads of books and videos around, and you can easily buy some that are a few years old secondhand for next to nothing - yoga has been around for a long time, getting the most up-to-date info is not very important. And of course there's YouTube (sorry, no recommendations, as I've discovered that yoga is not really my thing. I started out with the Yoga for Dummies DVD because I was so stiff that I actually needed that level, which is the lowest imaginable - before the sun salutation).

Brilliant, thanks all for the advice, off to Amazon now to find some books/DVD's.

I used to do yoga when I was fitter but my balance is terrible now. So I just do basic stretches. I haven't noticed any improvement but I'm hoping it just keeps me as nimble as possible.

I stretch as part of my gym routine and also do yoga. The last thing I have in mind is sex. I simply want to stay mobile and have good core strength.

The only thing less flexible than me is a stone statue . Always have been . Been wanting to start (at home) Ti-Chi . Many good videos on YouTube . I do basic stretching as I wake up , or may pull something getting out of bed . The not so fun part of living a long time is you can hurt something doing nothing !
