Suspender belt size and wearing?

Hello![](upload://ez5kOkpKXRZOxjavAURYmQxVTau.gif)

So me and my OH went shopping for suspender belts for me,What fun and what a turn on she has never worn them before she is a tights woman so its was all new to both of us,We were not sure on the size i think we do prefer one size fits all kind of things but we settled on size 16,we bought one and i found somewhere outside where i could quickly put it on to see if it was ok,It felt fine to me so we went back in the shop and looked at a different one and got that one also in size 16.

When we got home i couldn't wait to try it on but the second belt felt a bit loose around me even though it was the same size as the one i had sneakily tried on outside the shop,My OH said it might be like bras where some makes are different in their sizes so the next size down might of been ok for the one i hadn't tried on. Is this true? as we would both like to know.

Also wearing them should they feel tight around your waist like underwear or feel a bit loose but not so it will fall down?

So clipping them on to my stockings was fun and quite a mission i/we thought it would be a metal clasp on each side that clamps down,But you have one metal side and one rubber like button hole,We did look in other shops and they all were like this,Are stockings and suspender belts a thing that takes time to put on? It took us ages trying to clip it on.

Now the nex thing as it had two straps for each leg im guessing one goes on the front and the other at the back any suggestions how to make it easier to attach the back one without twisting around like a cat does chasing its tail lol

Like anything, pretty much all brands will be different sizes! You shouldn't have a problem exchanging it for the smaller size though, as it doesn't touch anywhere with hygeine concerns :)

How tight you want it is up to you, I like mine about the same tightness as the underband of a bra, so it stays in place securly but doesn't hurt/leave marks.

Yes, its one clip on the front and one on the back. I clip my stockings onto the belt before putting it on. Just lie everything flat, clip both of the fronts on, then match the stockings up to half way to clip the backs on, and put it on all together. Its then easier to move them a little if needed too. I hope that makes sense?

It will become quicker the more you do it too :)

Did you try the first one on over thick clothes or anything? Weird sizes are common unfortunately, but as long as it isn't falling down over your hips it's probably fine!

For putting on the back strap it's a good idea to have the foot of the leg you are attaching up on a raised surface (chair, edge of bed, bottom stair etc), so that your leg/knee is bent (think typical pin up pose). That way when you adjust your strap length on the back one it won't ping off when you are moving around (ie bend your legs/knees), which can happen as if you adjust it with your legs straight you can end up pulling the straps too short. It also happens to be easier to attach the clip to the stocking in this position :)

Once you have the straps all adjusted to the right length you can attach them to the stockings before putting on as mentioned above, I personally just find it easier to put on the stockings and the belt seperately as I generally end up pinging the straps off by stretching my legs out too quickly haha. It's all a matter of what you find easiest though!

It is something you need to take a little time over, but you'll get better and quicker with practise :)

(I hope that all made sense, super tired atm!)

Thanks LibraLover Great tip on clipping them on before i put it on,Made sense to me what you have wrote.

I just might take one of them back but im going to see how well it fits me as i might just need some time to get use to it.

@Lovebirds_x being a man i was wearing a loose tshirt so my OH was able to lift my top up and clipped it around my waist where it felt just right. The one that feels loose doesnt feel its going to slip down so i should be ok then.

I shall try your method aswell and see whats best,Its not like ill be showing my legs off outside like in a club,Its mainly for fun inside the house and in the car or wearing them underneath my work clothes.

You want the belt to be a fairly tight fit or it will keep sliding down, especialy with the pull from the stockings. If your just wearing in the bedroom its not that important but if you want to wear of a day then a loose fitting belt will constantly need pulling up, men dont have hips like women so you need to go tighter than a woman of simmilar size would normaly wear, you also want the belt to be a tight fit on the loosest setting when new, the same goes for bras, the idea being is that the belt/bra stretches slightly with every wear so over time you can make the belt tighter again by using the next tighter hook and eye setting, hence the reason why bras and suspender belts should have 3 adjustment settings on the hook and eyes, if you are having to put it straight on the tightest setting on the first wear then you need to go down a band size for sure,

Another way to stop the belt from constantly being pulled down is to wear hold up stockings with the belt, that way the stockings will hold themselves up and yes you can wear hold ups with a suspender belt, thats how a lot more women are wearing them as most high street belts are not upto the job of keeping stockings up for daily wear.

Another tip for hairy mens legs is to wear opaque stockings so that you can not see your leg hairs, plus they will keep your legs warm in winter as they are usualy at least 60 denier.

If you can measure your waist just slightly above your hip bones but below your belly, then i will give you a rough idea of what size high street belts should be close to what you need, if you dont have a cloth measuring tape then use a piece of non stretch string around your waist and then measure the string length on a tape measure, inches or centimetres will do.

Some advice based on what powys said, personally i wouldnt wear hold ups with suspenders. The reason being that hold ups have a plasticky, rubbery feeling top inside to help them grip the skin. Someimes if you try to put plastic suspender clips over them, the stocking top is too thick. You might manage to get them done up but it puts the clip under pressure. Ive found that either leads to the clip coming undone, or feeling like it will snap or bend when you try to attach them. But then that may just be my luck with a particular brand.

i find lace tops are much better at staying put. They tend to have a wider band so dont tend to roll down or pull down. Some of mine i can wear without stockings and they stay put!

I always clip the stockings on before putting the belt on, so much easier then to step into them, or if you have someone else to help, even better!

For me its stockings on, then belt. Clip them on and then put underwear on! Thats the vital bit, underwear last!

@jm88, not had a problem myself fastening suspenders to hold ups, but at least if they did undo you don't have to worry about stocking falling to your ankles. As you say it could depend on the strenght of the belt clips, but the ones i have purchased in the past from next, m&s and primark have all been fine, i also have asda george opaque hold ups stockings mainly which work fine and are a bargain at £3, and being 60 denier they last for ages.

I also put my foot up on something to do the back ones.

I second that about underwear on last, otherwise you have to do it all over again if you need to use the loo!

I like mine so they are tight, as that way they don't move. A couple of the biggest things I've found that help are making sure the stockings are long enough, as I usually end up with short ones and have to change them. Also, I tend to go for the belts with 3 or 4 straps per leg as otherwise I find they roll down at the sides of my legs.

Good luck!

Such alot of good tips from everyone thanks,I think us men dont realize how much women do to look sexy for themselves and for their men,I spent a long time last night trying to get the suspender belt attached to the stocking i have,Maybe its me or the stocking i have is rather frilly and thin where you would clip the belt onto. At the moment the only way i can clip it on is clipping it on before i put it on myself.

I shall have fun and see how i go.![](upload://ez5kOkpKXRZOxjavAURYmQxVTau.gif)![](upload://lJMrTcqgi5lI1FOpb07OYOcv2YF.gif)

all brands have different sizings, just like all clothes. wear them however you feel comfortable, i like mine quite loose as i have sensitive skin and hate things restriting me. i totally know what yo mean about the stupid button clips, they're so frustrating, it takes time to figure it out and libras idea of fastening it all together before you put it on is great. , some stockings have a line of rubbery stuff to hold themselves up and some are for suspenders, the supender ones are sometimes thicker where the clasps go on to protect them but lace tops dont, and cheap pairs dont last as long as you'd like

I think im going to have to wear the bigger size garter with the fishnet stockings just around the home,I think because its frilly lace its not going to last if i go out in them,I think im going to have to find some nice stockings with a thicker top where the clasps go on so i can enjoy wearing them out.

I find suspender belts a nightmare when it comes t the sizing! I have one that's a 14 and another that's an 8! I'd suggest buying one inbetween, personally i think they should dig in slightly, not to the point of it being painful or uncomfortable but to ensure it'll stay there, I had one that would slide down and end up on the floor. I know what you mean about getting them attached to the stockings, I fight for about 20 mins!

Wearing suspenders with hold ups are quite a safe bet, the holds ups have something to make them stay up but the suspender belt just adds to securing them, with hold ups I'd say get a belt slightly looser then. ^_^

Thanks for your advice MissNoir

Think i will be buying some holdups aswell just for the fun of it.

I think we've got pretty well all shades of opinions on the thread already, but just a couple of points that might not be totally clear:

Tightness is a preference but only if the thing stays up. Make sure your stockings are long enough; I had no end of trouble in 'the old days' when one-size stockings seemed to be made for women about 5' tall! If you have longer legs, best ot find one of the specialist stocking suppliers online who have them in all sorts of sizes.

If you're planning to wear all day (i.e. under your clothes at work) you might get on better with a more substantial 6 or even 8 strap belt. They keep eveything up a lot better, but for bedroom work, it's probably not needed!

It's easiest to clip on stockings if they're reasonably thin, but the clips on the suspenders do vary a lot so I'd experiment until you find a combination thst works for you. I don't put my leg up when I'm doing the back suspenders, but I do tend to adjust the back ones to their full length and the front ones to their shortest, or thereabouts, before I even start.

As for having pants over the suspenders, it is easier for the loo but again for bedroom work that may not be an issue. I have suspenders over pants because I prefer the look, and I can't remember the last time I had stockings on for long enough for loo breaks to be a problem... .

Hope you enjoy your adventures with hosiery!
