My thoughts about how it would be managed are that the first round goes out as the normal free testers, then, once all the freebies have been allocated and closed off, the second post goes up that states ’ Round 2 - Discounted Testers’ or something similar.
Yes, that was how I saw it happening. Although more so:
First - free secret testers
Second - discounted testers after the product has launched 
Maybe it’s worth doing a separate pinned thread asking for feedback and that might stop it being potentially missed by members in here. Just my suggestion

I do like the idea.
However, I, and I assume most, just get a very vague intro into a tester. E.g here’s a rabbit to try or here is a dildo. If I had to pay, even a lower amount, I would probably want a lot more information on the toy.
I love the feature as it is as it sometimes takes both of us out of our comfort zone to try something new. If we had to pay, I may opt in less and focus on toys I am saving up for.
Of course there are times this may be a brilliant idea, like the advent calendars etc.
It would never be used for secret testers (for the reasons you shared, also I have no idea how we’d place the orders). It would be more of a ‘second wave’, like “here’s what’s launched this week”.
Similarly, it wouldn’t replace the system we have now - more of an ‘add on’ after
There are absolutely some items I would jump at but being 100% transparent, Im probably buying them at 50% off and writing a review no matter what. The big difference would be the time frame for the review. The “obligation” to write the review would make it a higher priority and I would get it done faster.
Would there still be an element of selection and limited numbers available?
So like the tester list, people would vote and you’d pick a few people you think would be suitable and send them a discount code?
Not specially talking about Lovehoney here, but seeing a recently launched product with 50+ reviews makes me less likely to trust the reviews.
Otherwise, I do like the idea and would probably, infrequently, use it
Yes, there would still be a limited number available, and people would need to volunteer for the items they want to test. The reviewers would also still get the little “tester review” badge on their review
I think this would work for the likes of us. There are certainly some toys that we’ve put ourselves forward for testing and haven’t been picked - but have ended up buying regardless.
Like the lovely green bra-set that was recently on the standard tester list - I ended up buying it anyway - and will be writing a review.
But i still think you’d need to mark reviews as such - for clarity. As others have said, having a huge number of reviews all at the same time can sometimes raise flags for me.
But yes - would consider this on toys that interest us!.
I’ve backtracked after reading more of your comments about it. I initially clicked no, because maybe wasn’t a voting option - and at the time I voted, little information was present.
Overall I do like the idea @Lovehoney_Brenna. Maybe it’s worth trialling for a month or two.
I do have another suggestion/request and I’m not sure if you can pull the magic strings or speak to the boss, but I would really like to see bigger sizes given as lingerie testers please 
Admittedly I have most that are available on the website, but it’s always worth a try

We can see no harm in trying this system, as a 2nd wave of reviews it won’t give you any risks and you could possibly get more reviews and a small income for said item they are reviewing. It would also give people the opportunity to prove their reviews and build trust. We have reviewed a lot but not got the chance yet on the tester program.
I think its interesting. I could see us using it occasionally if we’re really intrigued by a new product.
It sounds sensible to me, I don’t think anyone loses out by trying it, except maybe LH if they are needing to purchase more tester items to be sold at a lower price than normal. Would these ‘second wave’ testers be in addition to the number of free testers you would usually send out or would some of the usual tester items be kept back for the second wave? If that doesn’t make sense, I mean, as an example, LH usually buys 6 items as free testers, in the new system would that be 6 free testers plus extras for the second round, or say 3 free testers and 3 for the second round? The difference would affect LHs profits but also testers chances of being selected for a free tester which might skew the tester reviews towards people with more money to spend, not that it matters all that much to LH.
I would use this if it’s something I was interested in buying anyway, particularly with lingerie because I have a better idea of whether it would be suitable.
The only problem I can see and that you would need to clarify, is what happens if the lingerie doesn’t fit or the toy is unsuitable - does the returns policy still apply? I’d be hesitant to purchase an expensive item even at 50% that I couldn’t return or change the size, compared to the same item that I could return if I paid full price (minus the 20% discount).
Presumably this would only be for products you already have in store?
Because how many people would pay £10-50 for a secret one just based on a name? I’ve been confused more than once, which isn’t difficult but still..
And our favourites, prototypes, aren’t exactly suitable.
@Kitty-Cat01 it wouldn’t take stock from secret testers, as we’d still want these to launch with the required reviews. The returns element is something to consider though - thank you for raising this! Will bring this up when I pitch the idea!

Its been my wifes dream to be a toy tester and writing reviews so we would be happy to try it to get our testing off the ground
