I am currently a mature student studying art and design and my current topic/assignment is rituals.
I really like the idea of doing something alittle out there and using masturbation as my topic. It is something most of us do so is a ritual and is not something to be ashamed of so I would like to smash the barriers down and create something really unique and cool, something that will really stand out.
I am unsure of exactly what my outcome will be but I would like to broaden my research and find out how everyone masturbates so I know what direction to go in.
Whether you are Male, Female, straight or gay I want to know.
Do you do it only at night or only in the morning? Everytime you find yourself alone or everytime you have a shower? Do you use toys (everytime or sometimes) Women, do you only masturbate internally or only externally, do you not do it when you have your period or does that not make a difference? I am really keen on knowing wether your period affects you as I may also do something to do with menstruation, I am playing around with that idea anyway.
I obviously will not use anyones names/username, I may use the ages ranges if they are visible and I may use your gender but it would only be in my personal observations, it would never become public and if this is a problem then of course I will not use anyones details in anyway.
If anyone would like to share I would be forever grateful, If you don't really have any rhyme or reason to when you masturbate, it doesn't matter, I'd just love to know whatever you can tell me.

Another point, Do you only do it when you are turned on or do you just do it everyday as a habit. Does anyone use porn and do you need it?
Happy to talk about this if you want some research but not sure a load of replies on here are the best way of doing that.

As for all the details you need, I am not sure you will locate it all here as we do not ask that people share inforamtion unless they feel 100% comfortable. As we are an open forum.

I definately wouldn't want anyone to post anything they don't feel comfotable sharing. This post was purely so I can get some info on how and when people tend to do this if they feel comfotable sharing so I can find a common denominator and use that in my art work, I definately would'nt want anyone to feel uncomfortable sharing.

Thank you CL, I understand what you are saying. I just wanted an easy to find post where people know why the are telling me if they want to and hopefully find a common denominator that I could use.
That is an interesting idea Artsy. As an art graduate myself it was never a subject that was incorporated into my fellow students work. I'm sure you will be praised for your originality. Good luck with your research.

May I suggest making a survey with specific questions and linking to it? I know a few other people have done this before and it was more comfortable to do it completely anonymously :)

+1, I think you'd probably get a much higher response rate if you make an anonymous survey :)

Surveys do work great , before you post one please can you let us know out of courtesy and so that we can ensure it follows the rules. Sometimes there has been a sneaky email in some cases, I guess it depends what surevy site is used.
